It is brand new and not refurbished or defective, only problem was dealers packing wasnt good so probably it got damaged in transit , he is only one who got a defective controller out around 10-15 members who bought this.

The price is low because the MRP has come down, it is only 1500 and dealers always give discount on the MRP + H18 Rs 200 discount coupon , it was shipped by creative peripherals , official distributors of microsoft and had sticker of Ingram Micro on the box.

Everything's fine touchwood..... And just in case if you dont know, the middle globe Xbox button will work on your desktop ONLY if you manually install the drivers..... Done ask me why it is like that...lol... uncle Billy will get mad....

Can you mention the 'manual' steps? Could it be driver issue - because I used XBCD too, tried it on 2 different machines with Win XP Win 7. Tried PGP but nothing could make the rumble work.

Besides the guide buttons works after installing XBOX accessories software. However in my case it does not show any settings or option to turn rumble on or off.

okay, yeah sorry I was talking about XBOX 360 accessories s/w. You have already done that. And, its really strange that it does not give you options for rumble. My advise: stop trying and get it replaced.......... cal HS18, coz they are the one who you bought it from....and in my opinion, they shd be answerabale/responsible for DOA issues.

The rumble option is only in the games that support it right? i dont see it in windows control panel , and if you want to replace it call MS not H18 they will just waste your time their customer service is very poor.

All right, let me clear something about rumble and MS Xbox 360 controller..... Its there in every SUPPORTED game. This guy mentioned that he tried Street fighter 4 among other games for vibration. SF IV supports vibration fully. It should have been available. If its not, there is ccertainly a H/W issue. You DON'T need pinnacle/xpadder for games that SUPPORT the X360 controller natively. Every game that supports it has a mention of the fact in its readme file and/or on the box.

List of supported games that support x360 controller fully :
List of Xbox 360 Controller Support for PC Games - Giant Bomb

Games released before 2005 will not support the controller at ALL. you will have to use xpadder/pinnacle for such games. For example, prince of persia forgotten sands does support the x360 controller natively (meaning you will have full ruumble and button prompts on the screen as if you are playing it on the console), but POP: warrior within does not. But it suports other controllers which means that it would recognise the x360 controller as just another random controller and assign button 0 to "A", button 1 to "B" and so on.

So, there are 3 categories of games:
A) games that support x360 controller natively. they will have full rumble support and what not. See the above list for details. Nobody needs pinnacle/xpadder for such games. Heck, I have never even set up my controller in game. Everything just works like it should.
B) games that do not support x360 controller natively but support other controllers. Pinnacle.xpadder mightbe needed but depends on the individula and games.
C) Games that do NOT support a controller at all. Such as Mass effect, hitman series etc. For such games, Pinnacle/xpadder are a boon. They will let you map your mouse and keyboard to the gamepad.

I remember using xpadder for my games back in 2007-08, when there were very few games that supported the controller natively. Games such as NFS UG, UG2, MW (yes, these games did not support the x360 controller and I had to set them up with xpadder for various reasons), Fable, Hitman SA, blood money, contracts, Splinter cell Pandora tomorrow etc. etc..
Now a days, every game out there supports x360 controller THANKS to MS. If it were not up to MS, we would not have been able to see the excellent controller support that we see in games today. Batman:AA was just too much fun with a x360 controller.

So, Leomax, never think for a second that MS has done something bad with this controller. They have not given freedom to people to tweak it much using their default drivers, yes, but then again, in supported games you dont need to and in the games that dont support it, well, tough luck.... I remember spending countless hours configuring xpadder back in the day, but in the end when you hold this awesome controller and play, you forget all that. And these days, trust me, you dont even need to go to setup your x360 controller in game most of the times. It just works...

I dont see it on my setup either. But some people say that the option is available if you press the big circle while you are on your desktop. I think, Gannu said that, but I am not sure.

Errrm nope not me. :P Viralbug posted that but that is applicable for the console not on the PC. Pressing the big button has no effect on Win 7 IIRC (actually it has been sometime I bothered to press the button while on Windows!). On Vista it used to bring up some dialog box.

The rumble option is available by default. It's been there on both; the 360 and the PC. Most of the games, which have native support for the controller, have it enabled by default. So don't have to configure anything separately. Leomax, try calling up HS18 first and see if they can do anything about it. If they can provide a full brand new replacement, then you're in luck. If they ask you to contact MS, then like I said earlier, this would be a very dicey situation. Call MS's customer service up and explain them the situation and ask them if a new replacement would be provided or not. In my case, a refurbished controller was provided. I would love to purchase that controller from you, if you're willing to sell it, as I need a controller without rumble function. Anyway, hope you get it replaced. :)

Guys does extended use of rumble, i mean like 2-3 years degrade or damage the controller...

im asking this because mobile phones show this tendency...

My controller gave up after 3.5 years.... So I dunno, if vibration affects it, because IMO, the controller will develop other issues within 4 years anyway... (really subjective, man)

My controller has issues within a few days of buying it. The left stick moves backward and the right stick moves left. It is super annoying :@.

I've asked for a replacement from ebay dealer and he says "Take it to service center". WTF?! :@1500 bucks down the drain.

Is it the same black controller or the white one?

Forget the dealer, contact MS and get the replacement.
It's a white controller. I'm going to use phone number here:Microsoft Worldwide Sites

Original packaging isn't required whereas the proof of purchase may be mandatory. You can alternately take a print of the sale confirmation from the eBay. Or ask your dealer for a copy to be sent by email.
