Those who are complaining about the quarter light, here's a suggestion:

Stop looking at the damn controller and look at your screens. :bleh:

To all guys who got the black one from homeshop18: Does your controller rumble?
Mine does not. OS is Win 7 x32. I even tried Pinnacle game profiler; even that could not make the set rumble. Also the native xbox config (by pressing big X on gamepad) does not show any rumble option.

^What games have you tried to confirm that the rumble isn't functioning? Or did you conclude this from some Windows based utilities alone?

^Get it replaced. The rumble does not seem to be functioning. Something similar happened to my room-partner's X360 controller. A very faint rumble can be felt and he never realised that the controller was defective until I played a round of NFS: Hot Pursuit on his comp and confirmed it. He got the controller replaced.

Get yours replaced as well. The controller has a 90-day replacement warranty.

Thanks for the input. Any pointers how to get it replaced. Do I need to send it back to homeshop18?

No. You have to contact MS and keep you proof of purchase handy. Bear in mind, this replacement will be a refurbished controller and you can't be certain if it's black.

^^ man, if thats true, then it sucks. This guy just bought a controller so he is entitled to a brand new replacement. Shame on you M$

+ shame on Creative peripherals(Lamington Road Mumbai) who shipped a defective controller. Why I say so - the box was kind of torn when I received it. Unfortunately I was not at home when the courier came else would not have accepted it.

Yeah, my bbox was also torn. In fact, I believe everybody who has received a black controller had their boxes torn.... We just dont complain because we get a black controller in less than the price of white one. And, the thing is if your MS controller is fine when you receive it, 99% chances are that you are good for 3 years or so.... (my last controller went kaput after 3.5 years of abuse, and even then only the left analogue stick would not take the input. Rest everything was fine.)

Everything's fine touchwood..... And just in case if you dont know, the middle globe Xbox button will work on your desktop ONLY if you manually install the drivers..... Done ask me why it is like that...lol... uncle Billy will get mad....

^So what did you learn? If its too good to be true, chances are its not. I smelled something fishy when you mentioned the price of the "Black" controller. These are either refurbished or defective pieces hence the low price. I am glad you mentioned the problem in time, I was thinking of getting a black controller via homeshop18 myself given the low price. Homeshop18 has a return policy. My folks shop a lot from that site and they have got an item exchanged on more than one occasion. So try doing that.
