sorry if im hijacking..:P..but have to ask..if the wired Xbox 360 controller will work for both PC and Xbox out-of-the-box??..:)

The X360 controller works with Windows 7 without the installation of any drivers - I have been using one without issues. There should be no problems with the console either. :)

Yup wired one will work with both of them and no need of drivers too.
 
Xbox 360 Controller

I had ordered a xbox 360 controller from Homeshop18 here , it was the white controller PART No. C8G-00002 but i received a black controller in red packing PART No 52A-00003

Are both these same or should i get this replaced?

Ingram Micro is one of Microsoft's authorised distributors in the country. So it is genuine indeed.

If you still have your doubts, call them up or send them a mail on the details they have provided on the importer's sticker.

You're lucky, the black one costs a hell lot more. And it is genuine don't worry about it. Though the 360 controllers only have a 3 month warranty if i am correct.

Absolutely right. 90 days' warranty from the date of purchase as mentioned on the invoice.

I'd go with the black one any day since discoloration isn't visible. Whereas the white one I had before had a very faint yellow'ish tinge.

The MRP printed is Rs 1530 so this one doesnt cost more than the white, maybe the prices have gone down , month of import is April 2011

May be. I never got why the black ones were so overpriced anyways.

It could be because the white controller was common and the black colour ones were more prominent with the Elite model consoles. So they might have priced it more for the Windows version.

talking about the controller, can someone list a few games that can be played with this. One thing is that the games should be able to run on 5 year old PC with 512 MB RAM. I am thinking to gift this but his computer can only play NFS MW, Quake 3 etc.

The older games won't have native support, i.e. the button prompts won't be there. I had tried it on a game as old as Silent Hill 2 and it worked properly. However, a game like Mafia, wasn't configured properly on it. Newer games would mostly have full support for this controller. The older ones might need manual configuration OR use of 3rd party tools to configure a game to be mapped to it's controls.

You know the best think about this controller? In racing games I can decide how far I want to push the throttle. In desi gamepads it is either full throttle or none. Likewise, in many games, the speed with which your character moves depends upon how far you have pushed the L1 key.
Moreover, the build quality is excellent.

To me it looks like a case where controllers were out of stock but still available on site. So when we all ordered it, he tried gathering stock but didn't get the white one and as black rates are down (almost equal to white), he sent us the black one. All in all a worthy deal I must say. we had to wait a lot but the end result made it worth waiting for.

And yeah the black looks very good, goes with the color of my machine as well, plus no issue of yellow tint after some time.
