ZTE Blade aka DELL XCD 35 aka Orange San Francisco Thread

^^Head to Modaco and read tutorials there. For now install a good ROM like SS RLS5 or PS RLS3B and see how comfortable are you with them. Then only go to CM7 as it will involve making your phone Gen2.

Seems there's a leak of the official Gingerbread ROM developed by ZTE for the Blade with Kernel 2.6.35. This is a really good news and this can fix few niggling issues on CM 7 and also FM Radio will be available in next CM7 nightly.

CM7 experience update:

Battery life is pretty much the same as with a Froyo rom. Almost 1.5 days with average use on 2G. On 3G full time, battery lasts less than 24 hours; around 18 hours at the most.

Haven't tried FM. Not intending to also.

Games - haven't tried yet. :p

@arun: That's indeed a great news.

^^It does not have FM at all from what i know. Btw if ZTE comes with official GB and these modaco geniuses make a custom ROM out of that (and not CM7) then i will surely go for the GB update.

^^ GPS not working for both...also Promixity sensor also seems to be not working. May be we should wait for a week or two to get to awesome 2.3 based ROMs :D

Now I am gonna keep this phone for another 6 mnths at least :D

^ Ok didn't know that. :ashamed:

This was posted in the OP in wbaw's thread

everything should work, except overclocking, swap & things like that which aren't in the binary zte kernel.

So I assumed they were working fine.

Yes you're right, this is just a leak. Once the final is released and also they release the source code for kernel, we can expect perfect GB Roms. Blade has come a long way since it's early days of last December.

^ If you're on Froyo, then it's totally worth upgrading to CM7 Green as of now, IMHO. Wait and watch the other ROMS while they stabilize and make sure everything is working in them. The amount of info that gets posted on Modaco everyday is overwhelming to say the least, takes a lot of time to read them all.

Besides, I personally prefer CM7 over AOSP builds of 2.3, as I love the extra features it comes with. It may be opposite for some though.

Reading all the stuff from the modaco forums about the new gingerbread leak. But is there absolutely any official information from ZTE regarding the GB update ?

Btw this user ricardopvz from modaco who made the Portuguese spring ROM does not seem to care about the notification bar power widget issue. Still he is offering wbaw to include that in this leak ROM inspite of it being broken. He is not even responding to his thread anymore.

tried new gingerbread release,

proximity works

gps status detects satellites within few secs ,so i think gps should work.

tethring works

FM and DSP setting not tried yet

it will be awesome to see blend of some CM7 features and new GB leak.

Please suggest some games that you people play on ZTE blade ? Asking in this thread because not every game works on this due to not having supercomputer hardware.

Doodle jump, aTilt Labyrinth, PES2011 (without weather effects like snow, rain, etc.) have all worked fine on the Blade and keep me entertained.

gah, trying to update from JJ RLS9 to CM7 and Clockwork recovery ended up bricking the phone :(
cannot acess even recovery.

Only way to connect to phone is that Phone shows up as ADB device, but thats pretty much it. using flashboot to install recovery images fails :(

^^Put up the query in modaco and people will answer the queries.

Btw did you try to use a TPT image which will convert the phone to Gen2 and then install CM7 or you directly tried installing CM7 on a gen1 phone ??

i tried a TPT, but since we had already installed clockwork recovery, it was not being installed, so we tried installing a combined TPT + 7.03 build, but that flopped, and left us with a barely functioning recovery. So we tried to install stock recovery, and that went kaput, and we found ourselves in DFU mode, and flashed the phone using a ZTE utility to find our phone booting to clockwork recovery only. and it was not installing any os ( not even an JJ RLS9). So we tried updating clockwork recovery, and ended up with a phone which does not show any signs of life other than showing up as an ADB device in device manager, but does cannot be flashed using flashboot, nor does adb shell lets us connect.

We are truly ****ed :-s
