wow !!! this thread is getting interesting.

Like to salute you guys for such unity  . Creating awareness for newbie like me:kid: . :flex:

Hope the price get reduced.:thumb:

agree with you.. Are these cards ship from Taiwan or from US?

being such a fanboi :P....I thought u would know this at least ! 90% of the computer prodcuts are manufactured in China/taiwan. About video cards most of them are made in taiwan or assembled in Hong Kong/malaysia etc !

@ supra
yaar, pata tha.. Taiwan/malaysia r hub of manufacturng.
I just want to know in previous post where our distri brought cards from.:P
luks like they order frm taiwan, but somehow product went to US, then comes back to india.

Maybe they can have a diff approach, do not add in the rma custom charge, but charge as and when required. Less then 5% cards fail, otherwise co. would not be operating, not fair to charge everyone the rma charges.

Heh, another option is there,

Build a better( as in more reliable) product :bleh: , or at least improve their QC!

Well,I think 19K is the right price. As Mr RajShekhar told ragsbava that card reaches here 17k & that is same price of KMD..Now including tax, distri & retailers have to earn (KMD don't) before they sell it to us, so it gets avalaible to us at 19K.
:)

@stalker:
If this is what Mr Rajasekhar had told, then don't you think, that a 250$ product coming at 17K to India (without any tax, margins) is too high in the first place

Surely shipping to India from Taiwan/China would be cheaper than shipping from China to US

ps. 275$ is newegg's end user price, their buying price would be much lower..hence i stated 250

That 17k figure is not the real figure. Trust me on this ;)

The market does not work on the customs and taxes alone in India.

These are the low volume products. Its no secret that margins are maintained high on higher versions like HD4870 compared to HD4850.

All thate warranty cost and other reasons AMD or distri might give us is all BS. Distributors dont really loose that much on the warranty. They do get certain % of the shipment as a standby warranty piece to replace defective cards. And they do have repair facilities for basic repairs. So 5% ( not exact figure ) or so stock is there only for warranty purpose.

The cost inflation is only because of the kind of market we have in India. If they do not keep healthy margins on high end stuff, it wont be easy for the entire chain of distributors, dealers, system builders to survive today.

HD4870 is still available under 20k, look at the pricing of GTX 260 which costs same as HD4870 in states.

India being a low volume market , They may be justified in hiking their margins by some extent. but what we're against is making false promises in their press releases and then failing to deliver. If they had mentioned that it were to be priced at , say 20k in their press release, We wouldn't be as dissatisfied

^^ exactly the reason for my interest in this whole deal.

when a product which has been quoted as being available for Rs 12000 is sold for Rs 11000, why cant something quoted for Rs 16000 be sold for atleast 16k?

^^right. I think, the solution of this problem have to be found by AMD & Distri. We members will continue to prick AMD persons via mails & fone, so that they wouldn't forgot this issue. Lets hope this problem gets solved at earliest..:)

VERY TRUE MAN !!!! :@ all this discussion is due the the false PR prices !! may be these AMD representatives are lying to us IF they were true they would have posted on TE, 6 days still Mr Raj is mailing me !!! may be these people n these distris are trying to rip us off !!! I do agree with funky on the whole chain surviving thing, it was there duty to use brains and then launch the price in PR !!!:@

Unless they come on this forum(as they told) and start talking to us and offering GO's or something, its not going to help.

Lets wait and watch...
But whatever we have tried to do may not bear immediate results but might change something in future.

they'll prolly come here with an offer once they get newer stock at cheaper rates.

that way they ensure that they dont miss out on their margins...

they are not true to their word :hap5: , they cant face us...forget about any GO

YA :hap2: in future they will think 10000000000 times before shouting the price in PR and may price the products sensibly.

as I have told in my earlier post my hardware guy, actually a very good friend of mine, had a word with the ASUS regional executive.. he said tht as the stocks comes in, he will give rates and said tht tentative is 18k+, when my friend told him about the 16k PR he said w8 for the stock, you may get it below 18K :juggle:.... so iam holdin my guns till 5th of this month cause my friend gonna contact him again on 5th of this month

lets hope ASUS gives us soem good news :S
