News AMD Radeon 9000 series officially announced to go on sale in March 2025

As HUB also rightfully pointed out, the 9070XT is actually closer to the 5070 in price than it is to the 5070 Ti. Given that the 5070 downright sucks ballsacks, it all boils down to perspecrtive and pricing + availaibility over the next few days/weeks. Can't wait for the dumpster fire that will be the 5060 with its glorious and magnanimous 8 GB of VRAM.

5070ti vs 9070xt

I kinda ignored on first look that 9070xt is almost same as 5070ti in raster perf.
RT perf was so much worse that i forgot, so yeah even against 5070ti it can make sense to go for this one if you ignore heavy RT games which anyway run at awful frame rates.

Still, not too interesting as an upgrade over 3080 for me. But yeah, amd overstated perf, but 9070xt is decent. Hopefully will have decent models at 600$/65k. 5070 is a pos in comparison.

Don't go for the 7900XTX or the 4080 you don't need that 7900XT is plenty and with the saved 25k by not buying them you can upgrade your monitor for a better experience.

Either buy a 9070 XT or a 7900 XT, it is as simple as that.

Note: This is just a rant, if anyone is hurt or offended I am sorry.

Even though the performance we have seen right now is not exactly what AMD promised, it is far off it, but this is still pretty good, and honestly RT performance and FSR 4 are much better than I expected then I had expected.

After finally getting something decent and somewhat good and seeing people shitting on it was not exactly heartwarming to say the least.

But in the earlier post I had cleared that doubt. Even at the current pricing and going by HUB numbers the 9070 XT offers 10% better value along with FSR 4.

Anyone trying to purchase a GPU now is simply desperate to part money from their wallet for no reason at all. The 9070 XT needed to be closer to $500 but that will not happen with the current Nvidia pricing. Nvidia has far deeper pockets to undercut the 9070 XT by lowering the 5070Ti price but they will not do it now with the shortage and the AIBs realised that they can make money be scalping themselves rather than enable scalpers to rip people off.

The logical point to make a decision would be in the second half of the year when the price settles.

^Agree on waiting - I have a 3080Ti FE. Works well still, will probably get an SFF 5080 when they settle in price. Don't see the need to upgrade right now.

I don't think he cares that much about value to compromise with weaker gpus from what i have seen.
He doesn't want to use upscaling from lower res ( even with DLSS) and does not care about RT.

Nvidia gave him and many others like him the finger, and so he went with the amd card with best raster perf, which is still XTX.
Hopefully it will work well without much feared driver issues (perhaps unfairly today).

So with this logic at 75k+ vs 85-90k, XTX might be good too - esp that 24gb vram will hold much better and will allow vram hungry settings/mods if needed.

Also even if Nvidia decides to drop the price they can't drop it more than $50. Even then the AIB cards would go for $850 seeing that they are currently going for $900, and even then AMD can also drop the price to $550, this is mainly because even though the 9070 is built on a more expensive process node than the 7000 series, the GPU die size is similar to the 7800 XT which they were selling for $500, and they are also using the same memory they were using with the 7000 series, the progress that AMD have made is mainly with their RT units and infinity cache, and that is why they are performing much better at higher resolutions.

Also I have talked with many retailers and distributors and it seems like the prices right now are:

9070- 65-73k
9070 XT- 71-80k

This makes it seem like the 9070 is just an upsell to the XT and prices for it will come under 60k imo as the 5070 is selling for 60k. I do believe that the 9070 is better than the 5070 but for a normal buyer they will almost always pick Nvidia over AMD when the performance is close.

Also all the people I have talked to agreed that the prices will come down after 3-4 months, 9070XT will be selling for close to 65k.

I get it, but not by much, 10% more performance for 20% more price doesn't seem like a great deal to me and that is why I pointed it out.

In a similar way a 3060ti had 75% of the performance of 3080 for maybe 55-60% of the price. Still 3080 was a good buy ( ignoring vram ..).
For me though, 9070 xt wins due to RT and esp upscaling. But better to wait for 65k or so. Current prices are unreasonable.

Anyway.

Well the 3060 Ti is more like 66% of the 3080 performance which makes the 3080 about 52% faster, making it a good deal even if we consider the value proposition.
