Android AT&T Pantech Burst - Discussion Thread

Hi Guys,
Got a new Pantech Burst but I don't know how to do the following/ it's not working for me properly. It's running on ICS.


1. When I connect it to laptop and switch on USB I am unable to transfer files via USB.I am getting a "connection failed" kind of error. I am able to transfer files via bluetooth though. (Solved this. "USB debudding" should be enabled. Goto settings-->developer options-->enable "USB debugging". Source is xda forums)


2. After a call the screen is not lit and as a result I cannot end the call. Either I have to wait for the other person to end the call or switch off the mobile. Pressing the unlock/lock also doesn't help.


3. I tried getting airtel 3g settings but they are unable to provide me with it. How to go about this? (Solved this. Had to enable "mobile data" under "Data Usage" in settings. )


4. Is it possible to get a spare battery/higher capacity battery. If yes can you link me to it please? I am seeing 1500mah batteries for rs 500 in ebay.in but is it possible to get higher capacity batteries.




I am still discovering new features and I am probably missing the very obvious.

I never encountered that issue.

I am using vodafone. 3g works only when you are in the network coverage area else it shows only E.

This is the major issue I am facing right now. If I wish to cut the call I am unable to as the screen is dark and I am not able to locate the end call key. I either have to wait for the other person to end the call or switch off the mobile.

you have mentioned in xda thread that you are trying for pushing new updates via the ota update method. isn't ota update supposed to be sent by mobile company? even if you enable ota update in your rom how will a user get that? wifi from computer? wont it restart and crash phone?

No the moment you install custom ROM you can't get any type of OTA by manufacturer.
Users will get updates through wifi or can manually check for the update notifications. After you download the OTA update the phone will boot into custom recovery and installed through the recovery itself.
In my case it is using an Aroma installer on a TeamWin Recovery.

Atleast my One XL get updates through this method on ViperXL ROM.

I was facing that issue and it drove me nuts !!!!

However after flashing a custom rom the issue went away. Flashing a ROM shouldn't have helped with the problem so try reformating the stock OS and see if it helps.

Hmmmm..weird, I am using the stock ICS rom and I have never faced this issue.

Try factory reset before flashing to a custom ROM.

Same never faced this issue on mine . This issue does come up on 2/3 times in a month on my S2 which has custom ROM .

"Drove me nuts" is an understatement. Now I am using the power button to end calls, changed settings to enable the feature. Still, it's pain when I have to message someone while talking or if I am calling customer care and they ask me to do something with the phone. Will try a factory reset before going with custom ROM

I do have the Pantech Burst also so commented on it
 
Guys, one n00b question, my pantech burst is unlocked by seller and if i update official ICS, will it lock again? What about Custom ROMs?

Most probably No... but if it does U can unlock it yourself or I can do it for ya... I upgraded, then many custom Rom were also implemented but never asked for code except once when I was creating bloatfree Rom from stock but then Keygen came as handy tool..... :D

I asked few members for that feature it will take 2 days for me to study and bake in . And yes you are correct OTA is supplied by company . Here isn't my company Gizmolord ? :D There will be an app inside the phone ,that will check everytime for updates whenever u connect net . When Here in website i'll upload a new rom and with different version id , it will show that as an update and will download from the source ( which i specified in my control panel ) . Than the app will flash the new rom . But I'm not giving it as it will make more confusions to users here :mad: Users fear to have cwm 6 than they'll fear and ask noobish question at even more speed . So I decided not to bake that in just .
