Audioengine A5 or Passive speakers with Amplifier?

People - I just contacted Balaji of Home Talkies and he was quoting the Cambridge Audio Azur 340R and the Mordaunt Short Avant 902is at 33000 Rs.

That sounds tempting. What are your thoughts. The 340R is Cambridge Audio's entry level receiver and it is limited to 5.1. How does this compare to the Denon 1508? How good is this as a deal? Please comment.

Err I think its too much... That speaker costs 9k. I'm mostly sure you can get far better receivers for 24000.

Yes, he said the speakers were 10k. I am sure he would have come down with some bargaining.

But what other receivers would you suggest for that budget? The only options that I have seen are the Denon 1507, 1508 and the Marantz 3001.

Please suggest.

Also Chaos, the only set of receivers at this price with HDMI switching capability is the Denon 1508. I can get those at 22K at a discount. It is a 7.1 receiver with HDMI switching.

Also Cambridge Audio mentions high end Crystal DACs while the Denon has Analog Devices DACs. Does that make a difference? Er...significant difference?

Marantz SR-3001 or SR-4001 depending on budget. Denons/Yamahas/Onkyos are not musical at all. Another good musical AV Receiver is Harman Kardon.

The Marantz SR 3001 can be had for a good deal at about 19000 from AudioPeople. But I hear news that Marantz does not have good support in India and that Audio People cannot be relied upon for support and all that.

Also the Marantz does not have any HDMI capabilities. Also I think it only has 55 W per channel while the Denons have 75 W per channel. Does that make a difference?

Would you still recommend the Marantz SR 3001 over the Denon 1508 and the Cambridge Audio 340SR?
