Bad Company II : Initial Impressions

^^ Wait when did this patch get released ?

I had reinstalled the game and updated at around 5:30 PM yesterday. Has it come out after that ?

You getting this error for the 522175 version.

Also side note:

I was facing BSOD/game crash frequently. Changed the audio type to 'speakers' instead of the default 'hi-fi'. Now the crashing has stopped.
 
Dude, try the War tapes audio............ Freakin awesome.. I am using the onboard VIA HD sound and its awesome........ Yuu will notice the difference.....
 
Yeah pretty much........... Have you guys installed the game at the default location (C:/program files(x86)/......blh blah)?????!!!!
 
Got the game yesterday, played till 5 in the morning, got pwned, reached Private 2 :p

Fun multiplayer, playing on SALUZI and Fragnetics servers.

Game updated itself to the latest version, can't see pings though. Server browser needs some improvement, filter by location needs to be added.

I did not (Mine is on D drive).

All is fine. The update (2nd ~620MB) auto patched (let it run over night), and PB is detecting it too. Can see servers. Before leaving for office, managed 10-12 minutes of decent OL experience.

Anish, I know this may sound crummy, but try it around post 11 : 30 PM. Let it run over night. During India day-time, I kept getting 'file not found' errors.

Guys......

Is anyone getting game crash to the desktop, after this new patch. Today morning I was able to play online, but now the SP campaign will try to load, and then it just crashes to the desktop. Nothing has been changed on my system. It was OFF while I was at office. Have not even tried MP mode. Any fixes, tweaks..?
 
This Game crash issue has been carried forward since the last patch unfortunately :(. It happens on one of the maps.

It took me 13 tries and a change of ISP to complete the patch download/installation :p

No really, I had registered for MTNL a few days back and that guy happened to come by for the installation !

Its happening on the friggin' river level. Just will not load completely. I am fully patched, and just re-did the PB stuff. Still it crashes. Am lost now. Not even trying MP.
 
Ok, after trying for around 3 hours, I cannot get the SP to load. Many others are facing same issue. Well let us hope EA/DICE get of the fat a$$'s and roll-out a patch. Crum...!
 
@ asingh : download the reloaded version of BC2 and use your legit key. That worked for me. Atleast it never CTD.

PS : I know its a big headache to install the patch again, but atleast you can play the SP. :p

Reloaded version. Meaning, download via torrent and use my key. Its showing a 2GB DL size, on the Alive Torrent Size. But I will not get MP this way. Anyways, thanks. Will weather it out. For sure EA/DICE should release a patch. Am surprised no one is facing this issue. Honestly this is a really buggy release. Shows how focused EA is towards PC gaming.

Could you check one thing:
Once the Dolby Digital logo fades away, you get a main screen, before the menuoptions are shown. On the right hand corner is a version number. Mine is still showing 522174, when the installation XML file shows this "<CurrentVersion>522175</CurrentVersion>".

You will get MP that way too. You are anyways using your legit key. I am infact using the reloaded version with my key. :)

Even I am getting 522714 instead of 5, but yes i am able to play on any server.

Reloaded has come up with the standalone 522715 patch which weighs 313MB.

Okay. Thanks. I read up stuff on the EA forums. The basic thing is: Post the last patch, any saved game will not initialize in SP mode. So the game has to be started from the beginning. Till then we wait for the patch, or use the ReLoaded version.
