But another interesting observation.
I have seen 1000 times more Hindi movies than the Bengali movies.(Btw Bong movies get a lot of National awards).WHy is it like this unlike I saw 1000s of people who would rather never watch a Hindi movie over a tamil movie.I know people knowing Hindi very well but wont come close to seeing a hindi movie, rather they would watch Tamil movies.
Btw I watch quiet a few Tamil movies as well, recently Gajini lol.For me, autowallas can be spared for not being able to speak anythign else then Tamil/Kannada, but educated people who know Hindi and is speaking to someone , should at least speak in that. But it never happens. Sad but this happend over my last 5-6 trips to Chennai in last 1 year.
Its like someone come to me & speak in English, since I know english well, I will speak to him in that.So when I ask to a guy in Hindi , same guy assumes different personality when he is in Chennai and when he is in Pune. Why is it like that? Are people ashamed of speaking in Hindi even if they know it.The more language u know , more people u can befriend easily.But people in India rather want to stay very very close to people frm thier own place.
We all youth here having such a fruitless fight over this means we are never going to get over this. Fight over language, water, own state , seperate state.
Whu dont we see people of USA in southern states fighting for Spanish as thier official language. Indian ROCK in communalism and even we youths cant get over it.

That is why I purchased a new bike before a new pc....In Bangalore if you wish to avoid the mother******* then get a vehicle. And yes the vehicle is more important then any ******* computer...My two cents..

Iam really disaapointed to know that you people are facing such problems in bangalore

Bangalore is a cosmopoliten city,where people from many plces stay here.
And please note the fact that only 33% of Bangaloreans are kannadigas!

Well Autowalla will fleece anyone who is not native. In south you can easily make out if one does not speak tamil or kannada etc. In Pune also i have seen autowallas charging 3 times the bill to foreign student who come to pune in pretty large numbers. Even brokers make them pay 6 months brokerage for houses.

Has any north Indian ever tried to stop an autorickshaw with a yellow and red flag flying over it? 
hyeah: What's up with those flags? Can some karnataka localite let me know what their significance is?
By the way I too have found that the muslim autowallahs in Karnataka are better behaved than their hindu counterparts. Just seconding a point made by another poster on page 2.
Has anyone of you almost got into a fight for petting a street dog? I have. It's funny why some of these illiterate idiots have to go out and prove something to someone. I was in a group so there was'nt any trouble but if I had only 1-2 guys with me we'd have probably been in for a hell of a fight. In Delhi the kannadas are meek and friendly but once they get enough people they seem to decide that fighting a north indian is some sort of nomination for a gallantry award.
Browsed through some orkut communities whre some failed software engineers are crying about how some north indian must be forced to speak kannada and stuff. I say we force them to shove something sharp up their own dhoti-clad buttocks.

I used to be the top in english when i was in 5th and 6th. dad got me LOADS of english tom n jerry etc english casettes from UK in 1993, my english was too damn good. then came to mysore, speak only kannada. lost fluency in english totally (never liked speaking in english..brahmin school, everyone spoke kannda in mysore. WHEEE
). whenever i try to speak in english, i always stutter. hence i try MAXX to avoid english

Yes,you are right.There is no national language of India.Hindi is just assumed as 'National Language' because the of the popularity i.e. a large number of people speak hindi.

A small TIP. Always fix the fare before getting into auto/taxi. No need for meter. Just say u are gonna pay this much, thats ofcourse 5 bucks more than expected official rate. Whenever i go to any city and dont know anything abt it, this is best way to avoid paying double rates.
