I did BSNL data recharge top-up for Rs.98 as mentioned on bsnl portal drop down menu and I also got a successful confirmation on mobile but neither did I get Free Data nor did I get balance increase and the status shows successful.

Now when I tried calling customer care which as usual sucked and took me over 24 hours to reach them now say Rs.98 recharge is for 2g and not 3g. Then why on earth did BSNL put them under 3g data recharge top up drop down? Now that guy says I should forget that Rs.98 as I wont get it back and refused to take my complaint and banged the phone on my face.

Any idea what should I do to get back my Rs.98?
Are you sure it was under 3G recharge? 'Coz AFAIK there is no rs.98 data recharge or top-up option under 3G plans.

1 week free unlimited download and 200MB free download after the one week period. SIM is usually activated within a couple of hours of purchase.

I dont wanna leave those buggers with Rs.98.

@ 3G users,

Once I take a 3G connection, shall I be able to recharge with the usual magic vouchers like 49/- for 49p/call or 13/- for 1p/sms etc ? Or there are separate plans/vouchers for that ?

@ggt, what is your OS? and USB hot fix for required OS, available here..

Help and Support

And if the problem exists even after applying this hotfix, then setting the speed limit to 3.6 mbps in your IDM or any download manager will mostly going to solve this. see my earlier post
Downgraded to vista and applied the hotfix. Now its working fine :)

@ others who have applied the hotfix on windows 7 64 bit, please mention your version windows 7 :S .

What are these 4200 recharges? Speed and duration? :D

Do these BSNL 3G sims work in Mumbai as well? Might get one if they do :D

I don't get 3G signals in my area. So have not recharged my new BSNL 3G sim (paid 179 for sim). But right now I'm getting and using 2G GPRS internet since 4th of this month and even used above 200mb..How long I'll get that for free? :)

Guys how are the browsing speeds on your mobile with 3g. Currently I am using airtel 2gb edge plan on my cell and it takes 10 to 20 seconds to open most of the webpages. (with a strong signal :( )

is there any recharge plan cheaper than 222, I am not going to use the 3g connection for downloading just for some browsing.

Check if there is a signal drop when the download stops. If so, you need to find a spot where the signal is stable :p

@Hacker, browsing speeds are blazing fast as long as you have decent signal strength.

Recharged for Rs 4200 today through the BSNL Portal, paid using ICICI Netbanking. The UL plan got active in about 15-20 minutes after the recharge! :p

^^ LOL BSNL is getting richer by the day. I dont know why TATA always keeps bandwidth closer to their heart :p....they are so scared that 3G will hurt their Photon+ business. Good that Ratan Tata didn't get into airlines  ( He wanted to it seems :p)

But the there is always 4 bars of signal availabe out of the 5, RSSI is -83 dbi.

Since my free 1 week download will be over now is there any thing that could be done to increase the speeds...
