BSNL EVDO - have some queries about speed and charges

This is surprising, what happened any particular issues you identified for the low speeds.
 
^ Speeds aren't that great in my area. Getting just 300-600k during the day and at night increases to about 800k - 1 Mbps.
 
i do get around 3 Mbps.. but suddenly while browsing or while doing VC, speeds suddenly drop to 0 kbps and the call disconnects.. has been happening for past 2 days..

working fine here in ahmedabad. Speed is consistent too.

Still no luck, i have tired multiple modems but unable to get it to work.Guess it would take time. I got the tracking no from blue dart so the second modem should arrive by tomorrow.
 
Have been busy with work, modem should come in today or on Monday. Did you check the signals in your area. Any update on the same. I have still not configured my modem, have to get it done.Most probably will do it on the weekend.
 
good luck bro... when GM of BSNL Tumkur said that no EVDO in Tumkur, should i make an attempt to search for signals there?
i guess there is no use for searching the non-existant...
anyway keep me updated about the modems pls....
 
My one month EVDO plan is coming to an end tomorrow, used just 50-60 GB! Will keep the stuff anyway, maybe will come useful if I need to go to some other city or something. So will change to the EVDO General plan tomorrow night.

plikmuny: Are you still interested in buying the modem, as if there are no signals it does not make sense to invest time, money and effort on the same. Just my thoughts, would update once i get more news on the same.
varkey : Are there any step by step procedures that i need to follow :

Also please let me know what all screens i need to take screenshot and capture details of after putting the sim in the modem. As i may be able to do this tomorrow.

In DFS, i would take a screen shot of the following : -
1. Equipment Main Page
2. Programming Main Page :
General Tab
NAM
Data

Do i need to capture any other information apart from this.

Also what is primary Channel A & B . ESN i know and PRL, would i need to download this from the NAM page. As i do see an option of PRL on NAM, so do i need to save the prl of the SIM on the pc and load the same. Also apart from this is anything else needed.

Once i get the above, please give some steps as to what next needs to be done.

It's sad to see you moving back to general plan but 50GB download in a month is not bad.
 
just because i told u that i need one, i will have to buy it from u. otherwise, i dont think that i will be putting it to good use as long as i am staying in tumkur...

Nope, it's ok,you don't need to buy the same i will hang on to it for a while. Don't worry,about it as i can use it as backup modem or sell it later on if needed. Met up with suhas today tried for over an hour on prithvi modem, but was unable to unlock the same. It was not accepting the standard SPC code.Highly frustrated as this simple thing is not happening.
 
did u use CDMA workshop ? try old EVDO ZTE AC8700 device for ur unlocking purposes....

tried dfs. the modem was not unlocking was resetting, the usual spc code 000000 did not work. wasted over an hour, still did not happen. Was highly frustrating.
 
Latest update, just spoke to Suhas, he was able to get his modem changed from BSNL and now he has the AC8700 modem,we were finally able to unlock the same by SPC is 000000 and using DFS. He was able to read all the settings and has downloaded the prl also. The config shows ruim pref. Had a doubt the esn which the modem is showing is it the sim's esn or the modem's how to verfiy which esn it is showing.

Also tomorrow we plan to configure the 595u so the dday has arrived finally. All excited about it.
 
^^ waiting for that 595u in working condition. there is no rocket science to configure. I and kuduku are here always. let us know. :)
