Yes, the difference in speeds and performance between 8700 and a 595u is like day and night. My 595 u will capture signal and work in places where 8700 would hardly get any. Also known 8700 would connect at 1x and 595u at Evdo. So no comparison between the two.595u is quite superior. Unfortunately I am no longer using the same these days as I got cable broadband , so may sell it off.

When you decide to sell it off, put me first in line :D

I got a demo of BSNL EVDO in Mysore. The guy brought an old Rev.0 ZTE modem with him. It was giving about 500 Kbps in his lappy. It started to give about 100-150Kbps when connected to my desktop LOL. No idea what exactly happened but all my dreams about owning an EVDO got smashed. The time was about 5.30 PM.

I think upload speed on BSNL EVDO is not capped but there is something missing. IDK why cant we get full upload speed. I get 40kBps-70kBps(avg around 50kBps) upload speed with BSNL EVDO(with airtel 3g I get 200kBps+ or maybe more upload speed).

I think it's not capped where I live, because I get varying upload speeds up to 76kBps speed but IDK why cant we get full upload speed. What's your upload speed?
Capping is confirmed by @cisco_tech from BSNL SDO ,my upload speed is super bad , never checked but 1MB bmp takes a lot of time

I didn't post earlier because I felt that it was unnecessary. According to the screenshots of d/l and u/l below, we can see that it's not capped to 240kbps etc. I have uploaded many pics for error margin.

@hayabusa_ryu Superb Speed. your upload is quite good. very handy for occasional upload. BSNL should provide atleast 512K upload. whats your location ? @kuduku looks like our regions are capped at 128Kbps.

yes North India EVDO speeds capped . But BSNL JTO/SDO say that its not capped , seems they them self dont know
Any one from Punjab who can also confirm whether EVDO speeds are capped .

For the first time getting ~ 1 Mbps at Cochin :) Upload speed seems to be capped at 128k as usual.

varkey speedtest fluctuates a lot , I am getting 2Mbps and Speedtest shows 512Kbps . So best is try IDM/FDM download . They will give correct picture and i am sure you will be getting more than this , should be atleast 1.5Mbps

Even IDM sometime shows exaggerate speeds. Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test is bad for wireless internet testing (as I felt till today). I found Internet Speed Test - Broadband, DSL Bandwidth Connection Check is better for testing wireless internet's accurate bandwidths.
