BSNL EVDO - have some queries about speed and charges

Well guys tower is 700 meter from my house , I think

Their is a BSNL tower their so i think GSM and CDMA are together only

What do you guys say ?

I have not checked upload speeds

In utorrent i am not uploading anything of value

These are old HD rips which couldnt download as their was no unlimited connection

tell me how to check the upload speed and i can confirm .

Everything depends on signal you are getting

I am getting around -66 dBm in day and -63 dBm in night approx

programming this is very easy

but as varkey says BSNL cooperation required for the Primary and Secondary Channel A and B

and SID and NID

all these can be taken from any working EVDO datacard also of that city

Guys with a good parablic or yagi antenna the signal should improve

In the link i posted people made a 10 mile connection, with no amp so good antenna seems a valuable investment for a wireless connection downloader

I dont have the pigtail otherwise would have checked that

I have the patch antenna BSNL gives and am sourcing the pigtail from ebay

I'm in mate. But before that, I need a demo at my place. I called up the local CSC and the demo rep said his DEMO SIM/device has some problem right now. Also, he said that in my area the avg speed I'll get around 300-400kbps. Still I insisted for the demo, he asked me to call him after a week and if his device is ready he'll come to my place. So I have to wait for that demo or I'll need varkey's help to test the speed. If speed is even around 1Mbps, I'll take the connection. :)

@varkey, how's the speed you are getting in potheri ? I guess the nearest tower for you will be MM Nagar.

I might unlock it no guarantees but for that i ought have the MIFI

It would be hit and trial as i dont have any of those paid versions

Please help. I have a prepaid bsnl evdo ruim (data only) which is already activated. i bought this from a guy from Nagpur.BTW i'm in Gulbarga, Karnataka. And i found this modem here

Can i use my RUIM in this modem?(i have a cracked version of CDMA Workshop 2.7 and know a tiny bit about activating the RUIM slot)

Will it need any programming?(i have no idea about this part)

Will it work in EVDO or 1x only? (i read somewhere AC8700 works in 1x only if used as RUIM-based)

Does BSNL register MEID of the SW card ? what is the charge and how diffficult is the process

The Sierra 595U is hard to find even in ebay.com. Any other Rev A RUIM card that you guys would recommend?

SPC of sprint cdma products is non-zera which makes programming difficult if i am not mistaken .

I have bought a MTS ZTE AC2766 with ruim model , hopefully will be testing BSNL EVDO in TN within the next week . everything else is costly....2G is capped making it unusable .
 
@hA1d3R replied back your pm , if you have good signal nothing better than 595U and as i said spend $5 for the unlock

issues only come with bsnl branded data cards

otherwise customer purchased non BSNL braned data cards are not a issue . Just take a normal new EVDO internet connection and you are good to go

If BSNL guys are helpful will even program the 595U for you , if cheeky and oldies are sitting than you will have to do it

my both 595U were used when i bought from ebay

only thing to be checked is whether usb socket is not loose as this is a notorious problem here

When its only used in usb slot and not with an extension or cradle the usb socket gets loose due to its heavy weight and it will stop recognizing it

then its equal to a paper weight

not a hot selling item but deals can be found less than $10

and varkey found one in amazon also

I had BSNL ZTE model and my 595U in a remote place.

ZTE shows no signal and 595U shows 2 bars and gives me a download speed of 30-40

I go to remote place local BSNL exchange asking about details of EVDO and to my surprise the town doesnt have EVDO

I insist i am getting EVDO and the curt reply it would be 1X

i always keep my modem to EVDO only so knew i was correct , so no use banging my head and quietly left the BSNL office

so the crux of the story is same this is the best modem in world in terms of speed in my personal preference
 
I have ordered the 595U from amazon. and it is on its way to india. will update this thread with my experience and all the procedure.

you are welcome man , and i still believe its the best datacard in catching signal . I have the BSNL zte and sierra 595U connected to my laptop , both facing the same direction . ZTE is not showing any signal as i am in a very poor signal range area wheras sierra is giving a download speed of 100+ . Its unbelievable and surreal to see that . Enjoy your purchase and my recommendation get the external patch antenna from bsnl and i will send the ebay.com china seller link who got me the pigtail to connect it with the datacard and antenna cable . you will get not less than 250 in download
 
Hmmm.. Interesting thread for me as well. Already have a BSNL EVDO card with the shitty Capitel data card that shows signal at full 5 bars and my downloads crawl at 20 ~ 30 kBps

mine is the micromax one.. and I get around 330 KBps download speeds on torrents and http's.. not bad for 750 pm

i generally download 1 - 1.5 GB of data in an hour or so..
