Poor man's Dante's Inferno? ROTFL! I have played both the titles and can easily say that Dante's Inferno is nowhere close to this game. God of War III was way more epic, but Dante's Inferno, hell no. The storyline may have similarities about redemption and ressurecting true love, but it holds more value in Castlevania. Dante's Inferno has a relatively darker tone and the presentation is hell-ish, which is understandable. The final twist in the game will be something which you might have never expected. I found the start of Castlevania to be ver slow, but it slowly begins to grow on you, with the last 2 levels being the highlight reel. Also no boss fights are recycled.

Check the GameFAQS message board and you'll see how many people have loved this game. I'm amazed how some have ignored it, as it got a 7.5 rating from IGN. Since when did 7.5 turn into a bad rating?

Is it Good Value for Purchase ????

I am still due for a Free Game from Vendor :P

Hells yeah! With games these days having a meager 4 hour campaign, this is the only title which provides a lengthy quest. I clocked more than 16-18 hours in it. Also, I wasn't aiming from 100% completion, which involved getting all the collectibles and stuff. You can replay any chapters at your will, after the main game completion.

A word of caution: A lot of PS3 users have reported about the saves being wiped out, due to an "Unhandled Error" issue. I'm not sure what causes this issue, but people have reported this happening on the PS3 only. As far as I know, they are working on a patch for it.

Easy is a relative term. For me, this was pretty easy on Normal mode. Platforming and puzzle solving were piece of cake. Combat was mixed bag. Some enemies were pain to kill, while the rest were as easy as, grapple and QTE finish. The boss fights require dodge and stike attack, while Titan bosses are relatively easier with "Shadow of the Colossus" style (weak spot attack) kills. I had upgraded almost every combo in the book, but hardly ever used any of them. The most effective combo I found was X,X,X & LT. So that's light attack 3x and dodge roll. This got me through nearly 90% of the enemies.

Hmm...yeah heard abt that glitch..they are coming out with Title Update for PS3 version only.
Will buy or get it free from the vendor....:D

i just recently got this game a couple days ago, after finishing god of war 3. I was quite dissapointed. mainly the graphics comming from Gow3 was a big letdown.
as you can see from the shots i took, its very jaggy. i cant seem to get myself into playing anymore of this one.

Firing up the game tomorrow. Any quick pointers? :P

Btw assuming I do not get pulled into NFS: HP releasing this 16th, can I complete the title by this weekend? Got to complete the pending backlog within the year end and time's moving real fast! :@

How's the difficulty in the regular mode? How are the combos? Is it entirely button mashing or do we have QTE as well?

Meh started the game in anticipation and completed the first 2 levels in chapter 1. :P Loved the training part. And yeah too much of rain in the first level. Been saving a copy of my save game to a pen drive. Haven't applied the patch. Can't wait to come back from work tomorrow! :D

The game is looking gorgeous on my big display! :D

OK did anyone revisit the previous levels to claim the upgrades? :ashamed:

Is it mandatory to do so?

No, it's not mandatory. I captured most of my health and magic bar upgrades on the first run and got nearly all the combo list upgraded. So it depends on how you play the first time round. If you just focus on running through the enemies and platforming and not spend time in exploring, then it's probably best to re-visit areas to grab those upgrade gems. The game is very easy on normal. Titan fights are the easiest and only the boss fights in the latter half require some quick defensive moves. No point in upgrading those endless combos, as not all of them would be used. Upgrade those which are essential only.

^TBH I spent close to 15 minutes with the first titan. He was a b**ch and kept throwing me to the ground until I figured out the strategy. :ashamed:

Btw some of those green health upgrade gems could not be found. Are you sure Gabriel will come across sufficient gems to upgrade his health to the max towards the end of the game? I am sure the last few boss fights are going to be a but harder than the rest. I missed out on a couple of them already.

I had gone upto 3/4th of the health bar and same goes for my magic mana bar. It's more than sufficient to kick their asses to oblivion. Once you learn how to use Light Magic effectively, you won't have issues as far as your health is concerned.

Yeah figured that out especially with the recoverable health using the light magic.

Anyways, I've reached Chapter 2, Level 5. Been a pretty good journey by far. Loved the locales. But the fixed cam sucks. At times, esp. when I'd love to explore further. :@

GOW and hack-n-slash genre fans would love it. Like I said before, the only downside I found is the fixed cam. You cannot do ANYTHING with the right analog stick apart from sucking the orbs by pressing R3.

PS: Please refrain from discussions relating to downloads, scene releases and torrents in the forum.

I have the game with me since 3 weeks, I started playing AC2 so that I could play AC:Brotherhood :P

Castlevania can wait :P

Andy haven't you completed AC2 already? About time! :bleh:

Completed until Ch. 4. Luckily Ch. 3 had only 2 levels (even Ch. 4 has 2!) and the boss fight was way too easy. Even the Ch. 2 boss fight was easier than the Titan boss fights in Ch. 1 & 2. There seems to be truck loads of combos to be unlocked in the game.

Get Brotherhood ASAP and we'll start it the same way like we did for Siren. I'll get my copy today, so let me know when it's out in UAE, or was it Abu-Dabhi? :ashamed:

Dam! I'm so geographically challenged. :(

*sulks slowly into a corner with a map*

Anyway, are you backing up your saves games constantly? Hope you don't run into one of those save breaking error.
