My experience with GFWL began with Fallout 3, the process of just starting the game felt like being anally ravaged. And, the pos drm deleted my save games after I had completed one-fourth of the game. The multiplayer aspect is a den for hackers and bots. Dude, you do not want a multiplayer game on GFWL, period.

Maybe Fallout implemented it in a bad way.

I was playing with my friend in Bangalore the process went like this, first sign into STEAM --> Initialize the game then sign into Games For Widows Live --> Start a CO-OP campaign, beat the first Dawn of War II campaign in 2 nights [from 2200 --> 0530 Hours], rinse repeat for DoW II: Chaos Rising.

I admit these were the only games I played CO-OP on GFWL and I had to tone down the graphics else was getting horrible PING.

Just felt like sharing, Cheers!!

Gta IV is the first legit game that i played using a crack inspite of having an original disk.Till today i dont know what its multiplayer is like?In my view Microsoft only stamps a game with GFWL if it is against it.It is a hidden message for all that dont buy it.The actual meaning of GFWL is Game Fcked By Windows Live

GFWL requires that automatic Windows Updates be turned on:

GFWL deletes a guy's save data:

Other stuff that you can Google:

- Some games require an always-online connection. Some games can be played offline, but some games cannot.

- Virtually all DLC must be played in online mode.

- GFWL has serious connectivity issues. This is really bad for a game with an online multiplayer component.

- Sometimes, GFWL just locks you out of their server for a while (their server becomes unresponsive to your particular login). This is so common that is is termed "ID lock". You can't play games that require a connection to GFWL when you are locked out.

- Every time you play a GFWL game, you have to wait about 15~ seconds for GFWL to log in and then reload the game's title screen. If you attempt to play the game before GFWL logs in, none of your data will be saved.

- Every time GFWL updates, you are REQUIRED to update it to continue to play your games, and there is literally an 80% chance that the update will fail and/or delete your save data:

Same was the case for arkham asylum. Then frustrated i gave up GFWL.But atleast in arkham asylum i didnt have to use any cracks.

Yea, I have also had some bad experiences with GFWL. It was mainly in GTA4. It would just keep on updating again and again. Worse was with my brother's classmate. He simply could not get it to work on his WindowsXP. I had to install a copy of Windows7 on his machine just so that he could play GTA4. I had problem with GFWL getting disconnected from net again and again in Bioshock 2.

But, thankfully I have never lost my savegames in a GFWL game. However, Steam has done that to me once(Lara Croft Guardian of Light).

Seriously, I would've preferred Dark Souls without GFWL or steamworks.

Looks like the anti-GFWL petition is up!

Why This Is Important

GFWL is unpopular, difficult to use, inconvenient, has terrible online support (a key feature in Dark Souls), and is downright unpleasant. After anxiously awaiting a PC release for this fantastic game it feels like a real slap in the face hearing Dark Souls will use Games for Windows Live. We recommend Valve's Steamworks in place, as this DRM is much easier to use, less intrusive, more reliable, and more accepted among PC gamers. Please reconsider the use of GFWL, or offer the game on both services. Thank you for taking the effort to port this game, but for a lot of customers it's Steam or no sale.

What specific features are you referring to here? FWIW, From Software has mentioned that they have some new bosses, NPCs, locations and equipment.

I think he means that From Software said that the PC version will look the same as the console. So i personally think that means no graphical options and only resolution setting will be there, just like the PC port of Darksiders I.

Exactly. I fail to realise how can KB and mouse help in a third-person game. I can understand if it is a FPS title we are referring to here.
