So, the 17 yrs 10 months old 'juvenile' MOHAMMAD AFROZ,the seine who inserted the rod will go scot free just becoz he is 2 months short of 18 ????

Tbh, i was thinking i wont be going out this 31st night due to medical reasons. Now that i think of it, how could have i celebrated anything..
Followed the girl's news everyday. All i can say is, It wasnt fair that she was taken away. Esp after what she wrote to her mother about her desire to live.


I am gonna be fine staying at home only. That is where i can find a little justification of spending today's evening with a sense of being human. Will try to go and def show my support in w.e way i can today or tomorrow/whenever if anything happens to be closeby.






And honestly FU Cricket team India. Couldnt even wear a black armband to show your support.

Well, whatever your wife said.. a lot has got to do with the current news doing the rounds. Secondly, she ll be feeling a slight more pain cuz of her being a lady herself. I am Not saying her concern is unfounded, but being in US only will reduce probability of certain attacks.. doesnt removes them. Not to mention they have problems of their own. As they say, the grass is always greener on the other side.

I applaud your decision to return to India. Howsoever dirty, i still feel that it still is the country to raise the Indian kids.
Moreover, if every sane person will opt out.. who would be left here for the future ?
 
when there is fear there will be some reluctance to commit the crime. And if the punishment is going to be very strict atleast the person will think twice before commiting the crime.
It is shocking to hear so many cases coming up in news paper and tv channels in such a short span of time.

Two factors are important:
1. The upbringing of the person
2. The environment where the person was brought up

The brave girl lost her life because of that b@sta$%. They should not leave him easily. He should be lashed in front of public....

I'm not sympathizing with the rapists, and they should be behind bars for the rest of their lives for what they did, but know that the cause of rape problem in India is a lot more deeprooted than just 'evil tharki men who all need to hanged in a line and then India will be free of rapes'.

And throw in free internet 3g service on mobile for all the poor so they can just rub one out with porn the next time instead of gang raping a girl in a bus. Ever notice rapes are down in western civs while they also produce a crap load of porn? While in conservative societies which demonize sex/porn like in all Islamic countries/India rape is a problem? Yeah, gives something to think about doesn't it?

This has to be the best post on this whole thread. Really liked the points about the mental instability + porn thing. Still I think not only better policing (prevention) but a quicker, more accountable judgement system (cure) needs to be there too. How many times we have seen cases languishing for ages even after good police work. While police should have their asses handed to them, courts/lawyers have done no better. The lethargic-ness in our system is just mind boggling.
 
^ I have my doubts if its the same guy involved in this case. I don't think he can drive anymore. Ram singh is pretty common a name as well.

Really step backwards. It won't stop rapes and ultimately, when all the girls in India are wearing ****ing burkhas, Hollywood/Internet/Porn/Youtube is banned, and the rapes are still rampant, they'll realize it does nothing to stop testosterone production in men.

Its ironic how India is being labeled as misogynistic in this whole rape case and the only solutions we can come up with is more controls on women, lol.

I think the chap who is a juvenille should not be assesed on the basis of his age but his actions. What he did just not justify him being one.

As for punishment, was just thinking about gangajal. maybe.

In the necessity/need to punish inhuman behavior/acts, we as a society must resist the urge to act in an inhumane/animalistic way ourselves. Justice and revenge are two separate things.
It would not be justice if the girl's unfortunate/painful demise leads to just a death sentence for these men. It's an easy way out for not only those men, but also the society at large. The degradation of morality and respect towards women has been exposed in a very crude manner with this incident. The society would rather have its scum and muck washed away rather than introspect as what led to it in the first place. Every moment those men stay alive, people will feel disgusted. And that should be the case till change within is brought about by a shameful realization of the sorry state of women.

Just leave the moral corruption of the society aside for now. It's a bigger problem that will take at least a generation to resolve.

For the case at hand though, if not death penalty, then what?

Suppose you were lured into a bus, then forced to strip naked and then have a steel rod jacked up your ass, while one of the guys had you gagged with his dick in your mouth, and the other slowly chopped off your balls and stripped the skin of your dick. And then this was repeated with the offenders taking turns each, and after they were done with you, they threw you out of bus. You somehow survived the ordeal temporarily, but only to die in the hospital a few days later. And you didn't even have the media coverage and the support of the entire nation behind you.

Tell me what punishment should those criminals who killed you brutally get?
 
in another incident a 20-year-old call center employee was stabbed to death by a man from her neighbourhood, in east Delhi on Monday.

The incident occurred when the victim, was on her way home with a male colleague. The accused intercepted their car and asked the young woman to come out of the vehicle. She was then repeatedly stabbed.

The accused was arrested from the spot, police officials say.
