Flipkart : Nexus 7 2012 for 9K

got my Nexus 7 (2012) 32GB delivered today. the etechies extended warranty kit that i had ordered as a combo hasn't arrived yet; in transit from delhi. just opened the box to check the contents, but didn't remove the plastic-cover from the device nor booted it. will first go to a store tomorrow to get a screenguard applied. thanks to the thread! :)

which one - 16GB or 32GB?
and may i know your city of residence? they apparently took just a day to deliver to @raksrules & @Vagabond from Bhiwandi to Pune, but more than that from Bhiwandi to Thane to me.
I have ordered 16gb with SBI credit card. wasn't convinced to pay 3k extra for additional 16gb. I live in pune. shipment status shows it is still in bhiwandi. expecting it to be delivered by tomorrow. funny know that that you received it late. You should have received it within hours. Seems like there are more orders from pune than thane. :D & I must say you have a lot of patience. You have got a new gadget and still haven't used it.

hehe....not entirely true. actually, i came back from a day-long trek, so my mind is kind of subdued now. ;)
even i had a very tough time deciding between the 16GB and the 32GB one, because as a matter-of-fact, the price-difference is indeed considerable and could be termed 'premium'. but finally decided to go for the latter, as really needed that extra space (have a phone with 16GB internal space, and it keeps notifying me about running short of space), and the idea of a pen-drive always dangling to the device's USB-port via its OTG cable didn't seem quite appealing to me.

i plan to use it at home mostly. so will have access to pc hdd through wifi. so no otg cable sticking out issue. one can even buy additional 500gb hdd with the saved money. i think google should have provided atleast 64 gb of space, considering there is no expandable slot and price differrance. for media, additional 16 gb will still fell short. just my opinion. :)

oh yes! didn't occur to me, about the 500GB HDD. :dead:
anyway, considering how resource-hogging can many apps be, and how many of them still traditionally use/perform 'better' on being installed in the internal storage, i think i could put the extra space to some good use (will be using quite many apps, esp. after rooting it, whenever i decide to do that). also, i intend to take and use this tab onboard on my sailing-trips with me whenever its on the cards, so perhaps the extra storage-space could come in handy at some point. just some 'feel-good' points though. what's done, is done now. :bored:

Hehe. I am not saying that 32gb is not worth it. its just that I don't need it for that price.everybody's needs are different. so one should buy according to his/her requirements. So you did right thing buying it. And wow you have big plans in mind.

Got the screen guard delivered earlier today, and applied it a while back. Very happy, as I managed to stick it so well with absolutely NO air-bubble in there; not even a puny one! :D

Now waiting for the case to be shipped, but have started putting the N7 to use now. One thing that I immediately noticed is the intermittent screen-brightness flicker. As per google, this happens with some devices set in auto-brightness, with WiFi ON, with something downloading in the background, like a system-update, and noticeable on white background. I qualified for all of these when I noticed it. Please someone tell me, whether any of you noticed it or not yet, and try to notice now if haven't. XDA tells that there is apparently a fix for this, apart from getting it replaced. But I don't want to get into the cycle & hassle of replacements. :(

@Kilroyquasar Being a android user and read somewhere not to use brightness on auto mode, not only it flickers but also drains the battery fast.

I observed this battery difference in my S2 personally.

Has anyone ordered Nexus 7 2013 from flipkart ? I'm turning my head towards Nexus from iPad after I came to know there is no better support to play Movies from NAS without keeping PC turned on and the stretched out screen in movie playback in iPad Air

i have put it off of auto-brightness now. will try to notice presence of any flicker. read that probably the wifi-chip could also be drawing power from the screen, which, if already set on auto-bright, would start to flicker.

another surprise now - seems that the screenguard i got is non-matte, although its listing said otherwise; i can see fingerprints on it now. can anything be done apart from contacting the seller or/and leaving a negative feedback to him?!

I have a screenguard which is partially matte. I mean i can see my own reflection on the screen (more when it is off) but not too much. I have a proper matte screenguard on my iPhone 4S and i see almost no reflection.
As of now i am not really keen to change the screenguard on mine but i will take care of this thing in future.

@Vagabond had got a matte installed on his Nexus from a shop, he may be able to tell how "matte" his matte screenguard is.
