FUP, frustrated Airtel users - what alternatives?

Re: FUP, frustrated Airtel users - what alternatives???

I have been hearing about this service in Bangalore and a few other cities like Chennai and Mumbai. Some have even tried and reviewed them. Tikona Digital Networks is their website. The following is their tariff plan listing I copied from their website.

May be it might help!!! Check out the plans listed as FUL - those dont seem to have an FUP. The CB (circuit breaker) plans seem to have a sort of FUP which is more or less self imposed.

I would have taken it up if wasnt wireless since I am skeptic about Wireless connections and their associated latency / lag during online gaming.

To all FUP frustrated users....

If you have the OLD 110BX Beetel modem, like I do... I just switch off my modem and start it again, and my speed becomes 1MBPS again. The next day again I get a message from AIRTEL that FUP has been implemented blah blah, but I just do the above and speed is reset for me. Others try.

THIS WORKED !!

Re-quoting for the TRUTH ! Back to 1 Mbps ! Hoo Raa !

Re: FUP, frustrated Airtel users - what alternatives???

Hathway 1Mbps @ 1K with 25GB FUP.
Beem Broadband 1Mbps @ 850/- with 30GB and 2Mbps @1K with 40GB max. Any better alternatives ?!!
Using hathway now..they had recently called me abt FUP and my conn. speed is reduced to 256Kbps from 1Mb now

My Airtel broadband is sucking a lot more than it used to , my billing cycle is of 26th and I am on '1 Mbps Unlimited plan' from 27th to 31st i.e, today I have hardly downloaded anything and they FUP'd my internet connection today, I am getting 256 Kbps speed. Also the last months 'Bill Amount was 1700+ instead of 1500, also never used their Landline.

I am planning to shift to some other Broadband plans, I need Purely 'Unlimited' Internet plans but I guess that thing doesn't exist in reality any more.

Re: FUP, frustrated Airtel users - what alternatives???

A quick update:

Had registered for the 775 Plan from YOU Broadband, wherein I was offered a speed of 512Kpbs and unlimited usage. No FUP or any other restriction!

Unfortunately, except for the plans, their reliability (downtime), support and quality of hardware equipment offered sucks. Also, you require a dialer to connect to the internet and their plans are Prepaid . This is based on my personal experience and I will soon be surrendering the connection. The top management/officers don't give a damn about the customers.

This ISP would be a nightmare for those who work from home, thrive on the internet and do not have an alternate connection.

So, back to Airtel now. Trying really hard to moderate my internet usage. :(

If only these pricks could revise the FUP data cap for my plan...

Me and my friend been using Airtel for 3+ years and we finally got FUPped this month, the connection is definitely out of our houses next week. Also i had been paying 1500 for a 1299 plan and i too never used the phone.

The Reliance 600+ night booster and 1mbps @ 1099 sounds sweet , any users in pune using this connection ? , please do leave some feedback. Will be testing Tikona tomorrow mostly.

Re: FUP, frustrated Airtel users - what alternatives???

^^ Get in touch with Sei for Reliance. he will vouch for it I am sure.

Except he just had a 2/3 Day downtime after an year just recently.

Re: FUP, frustrated Airtel users - what alternatives???

I got FUP'd a few days back with my download crossing 39GB. Gave the CC guys a piece of my mind and got a call immediately from their "back-end" team that the mistake has been rectified, as my cap was 100GB as per my old plan and not the 20gigs as per the changed one. Hope it stays that way. This is really turning out to be a painful ordeal.

Re: FUP, frustrated Airtel users - what alternatives???

Scarry ethan are you in 1299rs plan i have my speeds doubled and i have crossed 40 GB last month i dled and uled 85GB :S hope they dont FUP me TOUCHWOOD touchwood

Re: FUP, frustrated Airtel users - what alternatives???

It's pretty random. I was sailing smoothly for 3 months since the speed bump, then it slowly started dropping the speed. Earlier I used to get 167-170KBps download speed, now it's 146-150KBps. Then just a few days back, it would redirect me to the Airtel website with the FUP banner and my speed going down to 512Kbps. It's about time they start doing something about their stability.

Reliance is better IMO. I am using it and haven't faced a single issue yet.
It suffers from frequent disconnections & downtime though...

Re: FUP, frustrated Airtel users - what alternatives???

Does reliance charges for any installations or takes up any security charges at the time of taking connections ?? m too thinking of ditching Airtel now forever. The only thing that stops me everytime is their service supports and absolute no downtimes.

Re: FUP, frustrated Airtel users - what alternatives???

I was earlier on 1699 1mbps 100GB FUP plan. After the speed bump, now its 2mbps 30GB FUP but 1mbps after 30GB. i haven't really noticed FUP being applied. Might be I am one of the few unlucky ones :D

The very reason I have retained my Airtel connection. :(

Re: FUP, frustrated Airtel users - what alternatives???

I'm also from Bangalore,,,want to take the Reliance connection but it seems that the 749 plan is on the wired line of reliance and my area doesn't have the coverage for the wired thing so if anyone using the wireless connection from Reliance please give me ur suggestions about how it ?

Re: FUP, frustrated Airtel users - what alternatives???

I am on Airtel 1099 plan (1 mbps) in Noida. I just checked from Airtel CC regarding my FUP. He said - its 25GB! Wtf??? It used to be 100GB if I remember correctly. When did this change happen? On the other hand - I have already downloaded 45GB in current billing cycle and there is no speed reduction! What is going on??

Re: FUP, frustrated Airtel users - what alternatives???

It's been 25GB for quite a while. :(

Your lucky it hasn't been implemented on your connection just yet. Freak out when you can! :p
