GPU prices are at their lowest in 15 months, could fall to ‘attractive’ level already in May

yes this is definitely not a good idea. Instead of spending on two cards [from 2 teams] its better to spend that amount on a single better card. For eg instead of getting XX70 cards one can go for XX80 cards. I thinks a that's much better choice. :cool:

But this logic doesn't apply if budget is NOT a constraint. People were purchasing GPU even at 1.5Lakhs a piece.;)

Exactly what I was thinking.

I guess this is for a budget no bar kind of situation where you already have a 3090Ti but you still want better performance on an optimized for AMD game, so you go out and get a 6950 XT.

specific brand optimised GPU's in a major chunk have an edge by 5-10% and grabbing a diff GPU to cover up for that seems bit of a stretch. Why shell out that much money on 2 GPU's, rather grab a better one available. End of the day that'll give you performance for a long term and will run better than the possible GPU one would've bought otherwise.
 
Over a 3 week period since I first went to Lamington and I finally bought, prices for 3060 actually went up by 1-2k. I kind of got obsessed with the idea of owning a gaming PC and ended up buying for 39.5k. Will probably regret it when it falls below 30k in a couple months.

It's true that price rise permeates across Indian market very quickly, but price falls take a long time to reach the end user. We are at the mercy of distributor cartel.

Dont regret, since you will be pl,aying games or working on that PC. It will be your ROI.

Last AMD card I bought was HD 7870 and since then its all Nvidia as it has much better availability. 3060 or 3060Ti are more than an year old and we are seeing 4 series launch in 5~6 months so these cards should be at 30~40% discount of there MSRP with an year+ warranty (I know this is just my frustration talking right now)

Nothing we can do but when we see a flood of GPU's in second hand market, I will be ready to lowball.

Its just that our instinct and luck factor man...
I won a lottery in Oct 21 last year when someone offered his RPtech offer and I grabbed it under 1 sec, yes you heard that right!
Getting a latest gpu for msrp during that period was like winning a lottery of crores!
But ever since I bought the gpu I only gamed for 15% or even less! The satisfaction was purely about possession that's it!
My then pc died in Dec 21 (just 2 months later) And I got my pc upgraded in this year Feb. and only then the gpu was actually put to use, else I never plugged it into my old system and it was still resting in my wardrobe! Just that I was having a good nights satisfactory peaceful sleep as no woes of gpu anymore.

Now, if I ever felt or projected that buying that time no matter at msrp would have been not beneficial for me, today I could have got an aib at almost similar cost as I'm more into aibs than stock!

But again, no one 100% predicted when crypto was going to fall etc. and everyone was hitting in the air with no concrete info.

So in your case 39.5k isn't at all bad!

I am in a slightly opposite position that you were in, I have a relatively new rig and my GPU just died. PC has no IGPU and is just collecting dust. I have some commitments that will keep me from my PC from Aug-Oct/Nov and hence I want a GPU so badly now before my dry spell begins but I dont want to overspend as I too fear i will gave only 20-30% of the time (or less!)

That SCL gaming asked to wait for 2 months or mid August. We can see from here itself. Prices of used GPU's have come down a lot.

Intel new GPU's are coming
AMD and Nvidia team are coming with their GPU's
Ethereum 2.0 will be implemented finally
GPU mining is going down the drain for small players
We are now in post covid era, so no more shortage or supply related issues

Gaming doesn't suffers on mining cards as people think...actually nothing suffers except fans if they are not good quality and gpu are not kept clean.
Otherwise nothing happens to the gpu however u may use it.

the actual gpu soldering with main pcb becomes weak due to continuous heat .similar to plastic objects when exposed to sun they become brittle and break

That's what i meant if it is not kept clean heat becomes too much and then it can cause problem down the line otherwise it will keep working without issue.

Actually no. A continuous low heat does not damage the GPU. On the contrary repeated heating and cooling of any computer components cause more damage. If the the GPU is cleaned from time to time and it is run at stock setting then it's fine.

once the gpu soldering becomes weak you will loose the display and the gpu reballing/reflow is not being done in india nowadays .We are into use and throw
