GTS 250 :hap2:

How much performance will miss due to less memory(512MB instead 1GB) of GTS250 ?
Price difference is way to high(near 1K) for 1GB GTS250.
Unfortunately my budget is only 6K.....:(

Yeah I think I will go for the GTS 250 only. The 1Gb version is for 6.2k ? Or is it the 512mb one?

The GTS 250 is the best card in the budget upto 6K right?

Get the 512 version as you have a 19'' monitor...i guess your resolution will be 1440x900...
the 512 one is for 6.2k...the 1gig one is 1k more...

Since the resolution you will game on is high, the 1gig version should be preferred..
but since your budget doesnt allow that..get the 512mb one..

but still try getting a 1gig one..the extra memory helps out to churn some more frames at higher resolution..

So not worth wasting 1k more for the 1GB version right?

Ok and I have been trying to find out the price of 4870 but just can't seem to.

How much is the 512 and 1Gb version

mate try gts250....for 19" gts250 is an overkill...

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

@ revolution: If you're gonna play GTA IV, get the 1GB version without a second thought. The game drinks video memory like beer. Most other games would run at that resolution with 512 MB version without a problem. 1GB version is seriously recommended for gta iv.

@wr8_utd: 5770s have seen price drops. If you have a budget of around 9.2k, get the Ati radeon HD 5770 1GB at that price. It performs similar to 4870, consumes a lot lesser power, and it supports directx 11.

What bout the 512mb version of the 5770? How much is that? 9.2 is out of budget right now :(

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

I haven't seen the 512 MB version of the 5770 anywhere in Indian market, so i don't know its price. If budget is tight, get the 4870 512 MB. If poor performance doesn't matter much and all you need is only directx 11, get the HD 5750 1GB at around 7.8k. It performs worse than gts 250 at stock. GTS 250 1GB is a better performer at that price but it consumes nearly 1.8 times the power consumed by 5750.

If i wanted that I would take 5670 :bleh: It's even worse.

I am 80% going to take the GTS 250 only. What PSU do you need with it? i read somewhere minimum needed is 460w?

Oh i would love the 4870 512, it's better than GTS 250 right? However I can't find prices of it anywhere. How much would itr be?

If you but a GTS 250, you can get a gigabyte superb 460 PSU...its actually a 400w PSU...it will cost you around 2.2k..
But if you get a HD 4870, you will have to get a corsair VX450 PSU...which will cost you around 3.6k..

You can buy Shripad's HD 5770, hes selling them for 8.5k i guess, thermal grease applied too..:)

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Hmm GPU+ PSU prices considered I think I will stick to the GTS 250. It's a good card right? As long as it plays every game for me right now and over the next few years im happy

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

^^ next few yrs !! nope it won.. the card will sustain u for a year at the max if ur gonna game on 19".. then as time passes u ll have to play from the highest settings to the lowest ones but that will happen before a year itself.

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Ah crap :(

Because above the level of the GTS 250 is what? The 4870? That's rather over my budget right now :(

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

^^ chill.. just get the card that fits ur budget. don xtend the budget for the card as there is no future proof card out there :cool2: In the meantime save for a while and upgrade again. :) Just try n squeeze out the most u can out of it. and pray that the games coming out this year won be highly demanding in graphics ;)

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Ok new question. How is the 5770 in comparison with 4870 and GTS 250?

Just called one store and these were the prices quoted:

GTS 250 1GB: 7K
5770 1GB: 9k
4870 1GB: 10K
HD 4890 : 6.5K
