ATI HD4650 512MB ~ 3k. Its the best gaming card in ur budget. Try to get a MSI/Sapphire brand. What PSU do u currently use with ur rig?

Hey mate. I decided that il take the i3 530 proccy with a gigabyte mobo so i have more of a budget for graphic cards :D

The P55 mobo is rather expensive and it's only advantage i think is that it's needed for the integrated graphics of the i3 but since they are not that great anyway i thought i would buy a cheaper mobo.

Can you tell me good graphic cards from 5 to 7k?

Hows the HD 4850? It used to be great but it's rather old right? And hows the GTS 230? Something better than that?

Which mobo have you chosen? What is the model no. of the Giabyte mobo. Afaik all Gigabyte H-55/P-55 mobos i-3 530 costs 5.5-6k and more. You can use i-3 530 only with these mobos or the uber expensive H-57/Q-57.

Also the H-55 is the one which uses the IGP of core i-3 530 and the P-55 can't make use of the IGP of the proccy.

Performance wise in 5-7k category
GT240(5.4k)< HD5670(5.2k) ~ 9800GT (5.4k) < HD4770 (6.2k) < HD4850(6.5k) ~ GTS250(6.5k)

All are 512MB DDR3/DDR5 cards. 1GB version of GTS250 and HD4850 costs ~7-7.5k

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

I am getting the combined kit of the i3 proccy and the P55 mobo for a cost of 9.8k.

So i think i will take that. And I read in a couple of reviews that the P55 supports IGP. Anyway even if it does not it's not a huge difference.

So 9.8 for Proccy plus mobo and around 4.5k for RAM and HD. So yeah around 6-7 for the graphic card.

I will let you know which mobo it is that is in the kit.

How good is the HD 4850? I know it's a little old a card but it will support all the current games right? And is there a huge difference in 512 and 1GB?

You have 19" monitor right? Go for the 512MB version. And ya it will play all current games. Even after 1-2 yrs when there are only DX11 games in the market u can definitely play those games in DX10 mode. So no worries. Just make sure u get a Gigabyte Superb 460 or better power supply.

Also 4.5k for RAM:S 2GB DDRIII ~2.8-3k. So u gonna get 3GB? Better get 2GB now and 2GB later when prices dip. Also mention the mobo which u r getting. Curious to know which P-55 Gigabyte costs 4.5k :hap5: Where u getting these stuff?

Nono 4.5-5K is for 500GB HD AND 2GB DDR3 combined. Yeah I am doing as you say. 2GB right now which should be enough for most games and maybe 6 months down the line il get another 2GB.

And im sorry im not getting a P55 Gigabyte but it's coming in a combined package of i3 530 and the mobo. The guy said the mobo is the official Intel mobo. So since combined price is 10k and i3 itself costs 5.5k i calculated that the mobo is for 4.5 I have to yet find out the exact model of the P55 Intel mobo he is giving though. Im buying from Lamington Rd in Mumbai.

Oh and what is your opinion of HD 5670? It supports DirectX 11 and is kind of cheap but the reviews have not been too great.

So il go with the 512 mb versions of the cards you already mentioned?

DX11 support is there but in DX11 mode games will be like a slide show using that card :P Even 9.5k worth HD5770 struggles is DX11 mode. If u need performance go for the HD4850 in ur budget. The HD5670 consumes very low power and also decent for games in a 19" monitor but the HD4850 is better(more power hungry) :D

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Ok the HD 4850 it is then :D

Thank you so much. What is the approximate price? Of the 512 mb version?

Which other Radeon and Nvidia cards would you recommend in the same price and performance categories?

if i buy another 5770, would 2 5770s b able to match 1 5870, plz adise as i dont realy want to sellout my 5770, i ll not get any thing out of it,

i can buy mobo wit 4 pcie slots so i can put in 3rd 5770 after 1 yr or so, wat do u think is it a good idea, so may b ill get 3rd one at 5000~6000 aftr a yr?

and fr cpu how do u think amd 555be (only concerned about bottelneck with 2~3 5770s) will perform its cheap and might turn into a quad if im lucky!!:hap2:

plz advise smps for 4 5770s, its better to buy one with extre capacity!!

For CPU, id still suggest you get a Intel one, because youll be stuck if the 2 cores on the AMD dont unlock..
moreover, the new boards for I5 and I7 have better option for multiple GPU..

I usually dont suggest Multi GPU setup when compared to a single card..
but since you dont want to do away with your HD 5770, i guess its your only option..:)

Id also suggest, to invest properly on all CPU, MOBO and RAM...without hesitation, you wont like it if any particular component scales down your gaming experience.:ohyeah:

For the power supply, the corsair TX 650 should be good enough even for a multigpu support..:)

HD4850 512MB ~ 6.4k. Other card is Nvidia GTS250 ~ 6.5k. Similar performance.

But make sure u get a PSU like FSP SAGAII 400w ~ 2k/ Gigabyte Superb 460 ~ 2.2k or better. Stay away from CM Extreme power series PSU in that price range.

GTS 250 is basically a slightly modified 9800 right?

Which would you recommend out of the two? Performances are equal?

Oh crap i had completely forgotten about the PSU :(

Its modified 9800GTX IIRC. If u are short on funds better subtract the 2k required for the PSU and then decide on the GPU. The PSU is the heart of ur rig :hap5: Personally i would get the ATI HD4850 as it consumes slightly lesser power the GTS 250 and similar performance.

PSU might not be a problem because a friend of mine has a spare because he had recently purchased a new PC so I could take that off him :D

Hmm ok i guess HD 4850 it is. It won't get outdated too soon will it considering it's around a 1.5 year old card?

Oh and many people recommend NVIDIA over Radeon so since the 2 are similar in price and performance maybe the 250 could be a better buy? I have a NVIDIA right now and i quite like it :D

Oh and is this the same as the HD 4850?
It's MSI

Errr. That must his old PSU which would not even have a PCI-E power connector for the card u are gonna buy. 99.99% i am sure it is the el cheapo PSU that came with the cabby.

This is a common mistake that all newbies do  They skimp on the PSU and invest all the money in rest of the component. Dont do that. Take my word and get a decent PSU like the ones i already mentioned.

Running a gaming rig with HD4850 in a el cheapo PSU is like building a house without a basement. It may fall apart anytime:no: Don't risk a 30k rig so coz u dont wanna spend on the PSU. Get a HD5670 and a FSP SAGAII 400w/Gigabyte Superb 460 if u are tight on budget.

Its your call then.

Hahah no that guy had spent like 30k on a new system just last year but he's getting a new one now. Il check out the details of his PSU. If it's old and crap as you say i will get the new PSU :D

Oh and the 5670 really does not have good reviews. Is there nothing else if not the 4850
?

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

A really good friend of mine wants to get a new Graphics Card. His requirements are :

1. Total Current Consumption should not go above more than 160W(from mains). I've seen his mains tripping if the load goes over 180W on the same line.

2. His budget is strictly below 7.5-8K(max).

3. He'll play at a native resolution of 1680 x 1050 so the GFX card should be able to run all games(in the coming 1yr) at FULL at this resolution.

4. Since he only plays games during holidays(after 4months periods) he needs a GFX than doesn't get outdated for at least 2 yrs(should be able to play all games at medium settings @1680 x 1050 for 2yrs).

According to his requirements we've selected ATI HD5770 1gbDDR5 but its going over his budget. I've told him to wait, but he'll loose hard earned 1month holiday while waiting for the prices to drop.

His current Setup is :

Phenom II X2 550

Biostar TA790G

4gb Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 Mhz

Corsair VX450

CM690G 3XCM120mms 1XAmigo120mm 1X120mmScytheSlipstream

Samsung LCD t220

2X360gb 7200rpm SeagateHDD's

1XLG DvDRW

Any other suggestions please share.

Regards,

Aman

TIA.

Mediahome has listed Biostar HD5770 for 9k. I would suggest u lend 1k to ur friend so he can get this card and repay u in parts. But before that i would suggest that u ask ur friend to check his electrical line before that.

Option in ur budget with great gaming capability is obviously the HD4870 and as he already have a VX450 no issue about the PSU. Better correct the power issue and get the card.

If the above two options are not possible then try to get a used HD5770 from TE market. Its a newish card. So max. it should be 4-5 months old. Prices in the Te market is ~8-8.5k.:)

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Thanks for the suggestions DarkAngel. I'm already loaning 1K to him so that his budget reaches 8K. We were planning to use ebay's ICICI bank offer but ebay cheated and removed the offer.

I had contacted Shripad about the 1 remaining Sapphire5770 he was selling from his crossfire setup he told me to wait for a week or so. He's waiting for a new GFX card ;).

I saw the Biostar's GFX in TE market but Biostar's GFX cards have questionable build? and there are no reviews on them too.

Yup. Get Shripad's card if u can wait. He has even applied thermal paste in the card :cool2: That's the only card which satisfies all ur criteria :)

Thanks Dark angel. Currently i m using a generic PSU (intex). I know I'll have 2 change it 4 long term. Please suggest a PSU also within reasonable price range. Sorry I was busy in office so could not reply soon.

also please tell me till what range i'll get a good performance card. where graphics rendering will be close 2 realistic. is there any better card in 4.5k range.
