Thanks Dark angel. Currently i m using a generic PSU (intex). I know I'll have 2 change it 4 long term. Please suggest a PSU also within reasonable price range. Sorry I was busy in office so could not reply soon.

also please tell me till what range i'll get a good performance card. where graphics rendering will be close 2 realistic. is there any better card in 4.5k range.

If your budget is 4.5k, you can get a HD 4670, which is a very good card for its price..
but getting a HD 4670 at that price doesnt make sense now, because you can get a HD 5670 at 5.2k..
For the PSU...zebby pro 350w and FSP saga 350 are the best choices which are light on the wallet too...they cost ~ 1.5k

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Oh really! wat about the performance of hd5670 . I think I'll go for FSP saga 350 & hd5670. I guess hd5670(512mb) which costs 5.2k.

also please tell me do i need to add some cooling system also for this or cpu fans are enough.

How does the 5670 compare to 4850?

5670 is the one with Direct 11 support right?

Errr. That must his old PSU which would not even have a PCI-E power connector for the card u are gonna buy. 99.99% i am sure it is the el cheapo PSU that came with the cabby.

This is a common mistake that all newbies do  They skimp on the PSU and invest all the money in rest of the component. Dont do that. Take my word and get a decent PSU like the ones i already mentioned.

Running a gaming rig with HD4850 in a el cheapo PSU is like building a house without a basement. It may fall apart anytime:no: Don't risk a 30k rig so coz u dont wanna spend on the PSU. Get a HD5670 and a FSP SAGAII 400w/Gigabyte Superb 460 if u are tight on budget.

Its your call then.

Oh how are these two cards HD 5770, 5750, HD 4870 in comparison to the 4850 you told me about? Price and performance wise please :)

Could you please compare the 4 cards in price and performance. Thank you!

Oh and yeah one more thing you already told me about the GTS 250. What other NVIDIA cards under or within 7k are having comparable performance to above mentioned cards? Not 9 series though..

For CPU, id still suggest you get a Intel one, because youll be stuck if the 2 cores on the AMD dont unlock..

moreover, the new boards for I5 and I7 have better option for multiple GPU..

I usually dont suggest Multi GPU setup when compared to a single card..

but since you dont want to do away with your HD 5770, i guess its your only option..:)

Id also suggest, to invest properly on all CPU, MOBO and RAM...without hesitation, you wont like it if any particular component scales down your gaming experience.:eek:hyeah:

For the power supply, the corsair TX 650 should be good enough even for a multigpu support..:)

tahnx for the advise dude, it cleared lot of doubts,

one more thing, most mobos with 2/3 pcie slots are x16 at one card and x8/x8/x8 with two or three,

is it better to hav a mobo that runs 2/3 at x16/x16, if that so how much is the performance difference, will i b able to use full capacity of cards at x8 ? :)

The performance of the HD 5670 is comparable with the 9800gt..just a little less...
You wont need any additional cooling, the reference cooler and as well as the non reference cooler which some brands offer are good enough to keep the temperature at a good level..:)

The HD 4850 is more powerful than the HD 5670, the HD 5670 is comparable to the 9800gt while the HD 4850 is comparable to the GTS 250..which is one notch above the 9800gt..

HD 5770,HD 4870 lie in same bracket, you will need a better PSU for the HD 4870 though..
the HD 5750 and HD 4850 are one step lower than both HD 5770 and HD 4870..
In nvidia...GTS 250 as you know is comparable to the HD 4850...while GTX260 is to the HD5770 and the HD 4870..

At x8 the performance will scale down to some level..
If you have the budget, it is obviously preferable the get a board with the slots running at x16

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

thnx for the advice ragzdiablo...I think i'll go with HD 4670 or most preferably with GT 220 pre-installed in HP PC model.

Thanks a lot. you answered everything I could have wanted to know :)

The HD 5670 I have completely ruled out for sure.
The GTS 250 is one of my options, trying to find out the price though.

A 450W PSU will do for the 4850? However 5770 also supports DirectX 11 right?

Oh and how much is the GTX 260?

And one more thing. Are MSI and Biostar allright brands for graphic card or should I stick to Sapphire? Cause on smcinternational.in there is a MSI card and not Sapphire

The GTS 250 is available for around 6.5k depending on location..
Yes, a 450w PSU will do work but make sure its a good branded one..
get a gigabyte superb 460 if u intend on buying the HD 4850, GTS 250 or the HD 5770..

HD 5770 is DX11,.while the rest of them are DX10.:)
MSI is a good brand, no need to have second thoughts about buying any MSI card..
Biostar is however new, so i wont comment...mediahome is selling it, so it must be good..But i dont like the look of the cards..:)

HD 4870 is one step above the GTS 250 but the price is more too...its atleast 2k more...

dont worry the HD 5770 will work, your PSU wont scale down its performance...
although i cant understand what PSU that really is...but since your card is working fine on it...it should do the job..

Yeah I think I will go for the GTS 250 only. The 1Gb version is for 6.2k ? Or is it the 512mb one?

The GTS 250 is the best card in the budget upto 6K right?
