Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

just close eyes and get the 4890 for 6.5 k if its a new one or even if its slightly used.

performance wise think the 5770 slight pips the 4870 in some games while the 4890 is better then both ... the gts 250 is the worst amoung these 4 cards.

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Ok that guy at the shop made a mistake. I just knew it. 6.5 seemed to good to be true.

Yeah i know GTS 250 is the worst among those 4 but it's in my budget. The other 3 are way way too expensive right now.

Is lynx-india.com reliable?

I am getting XFX HD 4870 512 MB over there for around 7.8k.

3 year warranty. Can the site be trusted?

Anyone know how the "Galaxy" cards are? I know their known for their cooling but is it reliable?

HD 4890 cannot be available for that price..a mistake for sure..
I think you should leave the option of HD 4870...because even if you buy that..you will have to get a corsair VX450 ~ 3.6k minimum...
So its better to get a HD 5770 ~ 9k and a gigabyte superb 460 ~ 2.2k..
the GPU + PSU combo will cost the same..and the HD5770 should be preferred over the HD 4870..

Are you sure the 5570 just requires the gigabyte superb 460? 1K is a lot of difference in PSU and yes 5770 would be better for the future too with Dirextx11 Support. Thank you so much! I think atlast I have made my decision :hap2:

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Yeah true but then the 5770 is JUST below the 4870 in performance from what I have read and plus 5770 is better for the future being a newer card and having Dx 11 compatibility and plus it consumes lesser power.

And plus 4870 1GB is even more expensive than 5770 whereever I have found out

And:

The second group of folks is upgrading from older graphics technology, or perhaps even building a first system. They don’t have a good point of reference, so they’re seeing Radeon HD 5770/5750, Radeon HD 4870, and GeForce GTX 260 on the shelf next to each other for the first time. Available for $145 online, and with consistently better performance than the 5770, ATI’s Radeon HD 4870 remains a good buy. But paying an extra $15 for Eyefinity, bitstreaming, and the promise of DirectX 11 should really be a no-brainer.

fact is that 5770 is behind 4870 in terms of performance.

if you want to upgrade graphics card later on then you'll eventually have to upgrade your power supply also if you buy 5770 now because of cheaper psu.

if you're getting 5770 then get the Sapphire Vapor one.

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Hmm how good is the Sapphire vapor one and how much is the price difference? And what's the difference in that and the normal one?

There is this other thread "5770 or 4870" where everyone says to go for this ...

I need a cheap card that can play Call Of Duty 4 multiplayer at good fps

then all you need is HD4670 .. 512MB is enough.
cod4 mw, cod5 and cod 6 mw2.. all will fly on that card.

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Yep, HD 4650 will run COD 4 too...but get what madnav suggested...a HD 4670...pretty good card...maxes out COD MW 2 even..

Out of these...the GTS 250 is the best...
well above the HD 5670..
But, before you purchase it, please make sure you have the correct power supply..
which one do you have now?
