Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Sapphire is very good brand & covers warranty very well. Don't worry about that.

Thanks for the info, buddy! :) Based on yours and Desecrator's suggestions, I've decided to get the Gigabyte Superb 460W PSU and the ATI HD 5670 gfxcard. :D I'll not be upgrading for a while after this, so I'd better get something that'll serve me for year or 2 atleast. :P

Okay, a final question. :-P Is Sapphire a good brand? How much warranty do they provide on the card? I think, I'll be more comfy with MSI or XFX, but of late, i've been hearing a lot of warranty related issues with XFX because of Rashi peripherals. :-/

So which brand do you think would be the safest choice?

Thanks,

Ryan :)
just get the sapphire.

service is good.

if you are buying from lammy then buy from prime.. service will be better than you expect :)

@all
thanks for the suggestions, i'll wait till mid july and buy a cheaper DX11 card, else i'll go for the 250GTS. I hope my CM eXtreme Duo 600 PSU will support it. It sucks that it has such bad reviews now, when i bought my system in 2007, everyone was recommending it... donno what happened...
Its better that you change your PSU too..
to a better 400w one...
a FSP SAGA II 400 ~ 2k or gigabyte superb ~ 2.2k..
the extreme series are very low on efficiency and not reliable at all..
GTS250 is high on power consumption..so better to feed it better..

. Do some googling. Is typing HD5450 review that tough.

techPowerUp :: Sapphire HD 5450 512 MB GDDR3 Review :: Page 29 / 33

FYI the performance of HD4670 is 275% more the HD5450 on an avg. :P

HD4670 is the best gaming card u can buy for less than 4k and will perform very well for the games u are planning to play at those resolutions.

The performance of HD4670 is 275% more than HD5450?? Ok this Q comes from a person who knows nothing abt gfx cards. If we check model nos for any electronics the one with the higher number is the newer and more powerful one na?? Like Nokia 8250 was better than Nokia 8210.. So how is 4670 performance > 5450 performance and both at the same price ??

Its not so in case of GPU's.
Generally for eg.. there are two series. HD4xxx and HD5xxx
The HD5670 is 20-25% better than the HD4670.
Look at the last three digits of the consecutive series in case of ATI(2 digits in case of Nvida)
If it is same then the latest is better than the older one by 25%.
So the HD4670(670) is greater than HD5450(450) as 670>>450. This is the simpliest way for a newbie to guess the performace. Even simpler is just enter the card name in google and check reviews. They are simple enuf for even newbies to understand which card offers better performance.

The HD5450 is costlier as it has DX11(it doesnt matter much as it wond t be able to run any series DX11 game at good FPS as the card is low end). It consumes lesser power and throws in a few extras for the HTPC market.

As a gaming grade card the HD4670 512MB GDDDR3 priced at Rs.3850 is any day much better than the HD5450 as evident from the review.

Even in case of Nokia they have the 5230 and 5233. The 5230 costs 1k more and has 3G and GPS which the 5233 lacks :) So a name doesnt convey everything.

HD5770 as it seems to be. But I do not vouch for the power supply you have with this card however low the TDP of the card may be.

Sapphire HD4770 512MB GDDR5 ~ 5.9k/ PowerColor HD5750 1GB GDDR5 ~ 7.5k
FSP SAGAII 400w ~ 1.9k

Your PSU is not good enough to run a mid range GPU. So u have to upgrade that too.

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

thanks everyone ...choice should i go for 5770 or 5750...

Nope that PSU doesnt even have a PCI-E power connector IINM. If u risk burning the GPU go ahead with that PSU. For ur needs a HD5750 would suffice. Get a FSP SAGAII 400w~ 1.9k/ Gigabyte Superb 460 ~ 2.2k/ Corsair CX400 ~ 2.7k depending on availabilty and budget. Go for a good PSU if u want to protect ur investment.

yeah he has been very helpful to me too.

but anyways..im rather in a bowl of up-gradation myself now.

im getting a very tempting offer for my HD4850..

i really really dont need to upgrade my gpu rightnow but the offer is kind of making me do so :P

currently i can afford a card in 9k range and if the itch is out of reach then i can extend to max 10k :P :ashamed:

currently set on HD5770 .. preferably HAWX... my only issue is that the benchmarks all over places dont seems to make a valuable difference even after a hefty of overclocking particularly.. 5770 ..makes the rethink about the choice. im afraid that the shader and ROP count is not quiet enough to reflect the core frequency bump on the card. or can it just be issue with drivers for now??

UPDATE:

i guess i will still go with HD5770 HAWX :P

no cure for the itch..

PS: welcome to suggestions regarding a better card in the budget.. used cards will also do..

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Errr.... You wouldnt get any warranty on it. $170~8k. Instead u can get 4-6 months old Sapphire HD5770 in the market section for 8-8.5k. You will still have ~2.5yrs local warranty left :)

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

yup get a used 5770 ! actually some one is selling a 2 day used 5770 for 9.2k ! im sure just pm him and hell give it to you at 9.0k shipped !

so thats more like 180$ and full warranty !

if u still want from us get sapphire @ 160 $ or xfx @ 170 $

and sapphire has a mail in rebate of 10$ on newegg :)

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

well let me paint you a clear picture of the situation actually my friend is getting the card from the US not me and he can ONLY get it from there becasue his sis is getting it for him.
he doesnt game that much :P he plays a bit of action adventure games during free time and thats it most of the time is rig will be on as he downloads a LOT so i want a 5770 which doesnt idle at high temperatures and is rocksteady

so i suggested

Newegg.com - XFX HD-577A-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

or

Newegg.com - XFX HD-577X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

i also suggested sapphire vapour x which comes with free shipping and 10$mai lin rebate but i think its a bit of an over kill for his needs so he is willing to go with the xfx its good rite?

If u gonna upgrade to FullHD soon then get the Sapphire HD5850 and the Seasonic S12II 520w or Corsair VX550.

If u gonna keep the monitor for sometime then get the Sapphire HD5770 or MSI HD5770 Hawk and Corsair VX450.

Also go for another 2GB DDRIII RAM for 2.6k.

yup go with xfx ! they make really great cards !
XFX makes decent cards and in OP's case he wont have local warranty and A.S.S doesnt matter.

But if getting a card with local warranty then XFX A.S.S is handled by Rashi and is not good.
