No one is against one single uniform tax. The problem is the cost increased esp. the import costs. So many "hidden costs" here and there in this GST. There is no clarity from the govt., Is this worth to the consumer? Not me.
I feel that Modi is doing all these on the pretext of "Make in India." No one is going to make shit here if the taxes are high. India is not U.S. or China.

Ah, but they will have to make, else the import duties and others will be higher.

As for the cost increase, hoping for an increase in the exemption limits!
 
The real question is ....are items like computer hardware going to get cheaper? Because so far all evidence points to the contrary.

Ask yourself this: China and U.S. which country is nearer to India? Why are the costs of products mainly PC components and electronics cheaper in the U.S. than in India when we are so much nearer to China which is the source of the manufacturing for most of the products? Why do we have to import from U.S. when we can directly do so from China? I've been wondering about this for the last many years. All evidences point to our tax system.

the real problem is implementation of GST if it was successfully implemented then only we can know if prices going up or down as there are many hidden taxes which we dont know in the process of manufacturing to selling it many have positive impact or if there is an increase in price government may lower the taxes but only after implementing the GST successfully
 
I don't know why people are expecting things to get better for consumers. Here, it's about GST. In the other thread it's about Apples being made in India. Wake up and smell the dung people, for the last 3 years, there has just been a steady and systematic increase in cost to the public, from the budget to various added taxes and cesses. ANYTHING this govt. does, it's for their own benefit, including the much vaunted demonetisation. I'm curious, can someone point out anything they have actually concretely achieved in these last 3 years? Apart from their incessant braying about promises for a better country.

I honestly don't give a crap about who is in power. All political parties are corrupt and apathetic to the real needs of the people. But they should at least show some restraint in how much they fleece the public, while doing at least the bare minimum in terms of development and progress.

I'm confused. I think i read somewhere that real estate is going to be exempt from GST. Not sure what is gonna happen in the end...
 
^ After reading that article, I am pretty sure that the author is himself confused on what he wants to put forward.
 
Also the other day i visited a local dhaba where i used to buy food earlier. I was surprised to see VAT on the bill. I asked them from when he says from the last 2 months due to heavy enforcement by State commercial taxes department.

I'm happy about this. I think this should be down to even the chai-waala or pan waala's who make at least Rs 40,000 minimum/month after expenses. Since GST is being enforced and There shall be a proper on each transaction even they should be tracked with the help of bills.

This calculation seems to be bogus. I have never seen KKC or SBC on a restaurant bill.

Again, the restaurateur could get ITC, but there's a slim chance in hell of them actually reducing rates on the menu and passing it on to the customer.

The solution to this problem is very simple. ALL I mean ALL the citizens should unite & boycott this government until & unless they remove these stupidity or ask for re-election. Vote a party which at least will not increase the problem. Its better to end this nonsense NOW.
But no one will do it & keep on complaining & will think whatever I said makes no sense.
