Re: HDD Prices may go up..

Time to go the blue ray way i guess.
Moser baer blue ray discs cost 57 per piece i.e around 2rs /gb.
If demand increases on that front we might see prices dropping on them very soon.

Its time to go for ssd instead of hard disk.

Heck... prices are yet to fall. They would stil keep a competitive price trying to milk as much money from this situation. And who knows after settling of the storm the prices would fall down.

I think may online shops and B&M too will increase the prices even for their existing stocks due to this so they can earn some extra bucks. :|

These sort of things are bound to happen in present circumstances,ab to blu ray din aane wale hai lagta hai:(

You read it wrong.. Its actually up by more than 2k...
In some places it is around 3.9k.

Anyways i was a bloody idiot waiting to get one.Now i guess i have to wait a bit more.Btw any chances of getting the price reduced.how much for a 500GB one?

Hope SSD manufactures use this Adversity into Opportunity..

To comeup with Largersize drives with less buggy firmware and at cheaper price..ftw!!

I am cursing myself that I did not buy one when prices were low...any chances of price decrease in near future(2-3months)

managed to get 2 wd750gb sata 6gb/s drives frm ebay.com last week. both drives expected today. will update later wth total damage.

I think price will only get low only after march period.

As right now in thailand water level is not receding.SO hardware material provider are unable to determine the lost.

Even say by jan they start their factory its obvious they wont price it low now as lost is on their head.So i guess we all missed an opportunity.

Only respite can come is if SSD price goes down.Than for purpose of competition price will be low.

Bhaijaan... I second that feeling and have been cursing myself these past 15 days..... [YES that's even b4 we knew of the floods].... I could not make up my mind between the Barracuda XT 2TB priced at Rs.7600 that I dreamt of or whether to go for Seagate 1 + 1 TB @ 7200 rpm priced at Rs 2750 each.........

Agree brother - we missed, MISSED the bus......... ALL THIS IS NOW HISTORY. How do I proceed with building my new RIG if the STOMACH -> Storage is gonna BURST me tooooo

And dear....SSD prices falling LOL ....that's still 5 years away in the year 2016 !!!! ..... That will be the time when all these traditional SATA discs would be a part of History [just as IDE]... WE would see
1 TB SSD for Rs 350/- [calculations based on 1GB Flash Drives 4 years ago!!!]
10 TB SSD for Rs 7500/- and WOW
1PB SSD for 25000/- ....... Whoaaaa Petabyte Drives.... Yes of course, we would be storing 4K resolution Movies [each of 500GB - compressed format aka mkv or 8 TB uncompressed]....

You guys may think I've gone BONKERS...... Blame it on the Floods - Kismat Ka Khel and Lost oppurtunities... So until then, let's resurrect all those 20GB to 250GB IDE Drives and put them to use on the slow-track to survive....

It's time now for my next patiala... for the next 6 months!!!

Whichever ONLINE source you wish to get ur hdd from - PLEASE CALL THEM UP first and CHECK AVAILABILITY. Do Not Place Order & make the cc, etc payment...... Many of them do not update their sites daily/regularly.

Lastly what type of hdd is your requirement - Internal/Ext ? 5900 or 7200 rpm. External drives are still available in plenty
