Budget 21-30k Help with Ryzen Build

@DanteErodov Does the CL14 or the CL16 have any noticeable difference in a real world scenario. As in can these differences be perceived ? I have at different times used both of them and could never find any difference in everyday performance ?

There is no real perceivable difference to be honest. However, there is some difference if you try to look for it. Moreover, you cannot simply compare CL14 vs C16. It is a combination of both speed as well as timings that matter & are comparable.

You can refer the below article to see how Ryzen behaves at different speed while gaming. If you go through it you'll note that the highest speed RAM are not the fastest & the lowest CL timing RAM is also not the fastest. It is a combination of both high speed & lowest timings that really matter. Also in the conclusion you can see that the sweet spot is usually at 3600Mhz CL16 or 3200MHz CL14 timings & achieving anything above that depends upon a lot of factors including your RAM, motherboard & CPU. Personally I would go with 3200Mhz CL16 kit as those are usually significantly cheaper in our market than 3200MHz CL14 or 3600Mhz CL16 kits & paying a premium of more than 40-50% is simply not worth it & is better spend on upgrading something else in your system.

Thanks for the explanations, I have used both RAM's on different machines but never really figured out whats different between the two. Neither system seemed particularly snappy while working/ gaming on them to be honest. After a while i just thought it was more of a cred thing, :p
 
It is most probably Hynix c die based upon the information present in the below links. Basically anything with GTRG is Samsung B die based upon the first link but based upon the 2nd article, anything ending with an extra "C" on B-die code is actually Hynix C die. The only way to know for sure though is to confirm it with someone who already has it.


Are you able to find this kit in stock though? Honestly I wouldn't really worry about this as anything with 3600Mz CL16 timings is pretty good to begin with. Also it is very unlikely for you to be able to find Samsung b die kits in India. You can also try searching for 3200 CL14 kits as those are also Samsung B-die and can be easily overclocked to 3600Mz CL16. One of the guy I know have it with him(F4-3600C16D-32GTRGC), was thinking of taking it just wanted to know if it worth it.
Also, I been trying to get the flare for some time, likewise never seen in the stock.

Just make sure it also has good CAS latencies too. I think a 3200MHz Cl16 kit will perform similarly to a 3600Mhz Cl19 kit, so no point in going for that, more details here https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/3200-cl16-or-3600-cl19.247608/. Ideally you should go with something like:

I don't know about that particular kit and what die it uses or how it overclocks. But 3600Mhz Cl19 has a latency of 10.5 nano seconds. And 3200Mhz CL16 has a latency of 10ns--so this is marginally better. This probably translates to 0.5% performance increase and 0.8% better 1% lows in games. Depending on the game, performance gain can vary from 0.5% to 1.5% for every 1ns you shave off. Here, between the two kits the difference is just .5ns.
And 3200 CL16 = 3600 CL18
Ideally I would want 3600 CL16.
You also need bandwidth, so you shouldn't be clocking it down to 3200 just to tighten the timings. You need to optimize everything to get the best performance. If you are on Ryzen then 1:1 ratio is what you should aim for, while being balanced about RAM speed and timing. Wait for someone with experience in this regard if you want a detailed explanation or watch a couple of video about infinity fabric ratio.

And finally I didn't answer your question about if you should go for it lol. Better wait for someone else. If you are not gonna tweak much and run it at stock it seems like a good price for 16gb. You can probably run it at 3600 CL18 at the very least, which is not bad.

I think you should go ahead with your purchase specially at that price point as the real word difference between them wouldn't be noticeable at all & that is a very good price IMO.

Technically it should be possible to run the kit at 3200 CL16 speeds but at the end of the day it is a luck of the draw & really depends upon multiple factors including but not limited to the memory itself, the processors memory controller, your motherboard as well as your own overclocking/tuning capability/experience. Like a said earlier, I really wouldn't worry about it. Although if you really like tinkering with stuff & want to squeeze that last bit of performance, you should try to keep the memory speed at 3600MHz itself & try to bring down the CL timings to as low as possible. You can use something like Ryzen DRAM calculator, https://www.techpowerup.com/download/ryzen-dram-calculator/, to get an idea of the timings that your memory might be able to get to & use it as a reference. Also google what's the max performance/tuning people are able to achieve on that particular kit beforehand just to keep your expectations in check.

I may be late to suggest, but if you can find Crucial Ballistix Sport LT which is E-die memory and extremely good performing overclocker. I have bought 2 sticks of 3000MHz CL15 and running them at 3600Mhz CL16 comfortably !
 
Sport LT has been discontinued, I've been looking for it everywhere. Ping me if you're planning to sell lol
 
TPS Tech usually has loads of Ballistix in stock but apparently just one model is available and it costs a pretty penny

Amazon's Appario had exactly what I wanted a couple of days back, 3600 CL16 but just one, if only they had 2 of those I'd have pulled the trigger without thinking. Even that 1 stick is gone now, can't find it. Ballistix is basically out of stock virtually everywhere--3200Mhz+

Ballistix Sport LT 3200 was available for a short period on Tuesday on TPS Tech for 3499. I spent too much time thinking if this is good or not and missed out :(

Hey, don't sweat about this stuff, it really isn't a big deal. On the bright side, I found this reddit thread where folks are talking about your specific kit that you could get for 5.5k. As per the discussion, it seems like it could run at around 3600MHz CL16 with some tuning so take a look.
 
They had it a month or two before when I checked. Friend bought 16gbx2 ddr4 3200 sport LT from them for 10k something. They had stocks of 8gb stick then too
Damn that's a good price!
I've messaged their support, let me see when they're gonna restock. I thought LT was discontinued but hmmm....

CPU : Ryzen 5 3600
Mobo : Asrock B450M Pro 4
RAM : G.Skill Sniper X 3600 8gb*2

Hunting for PSU and Case Now.

For PSU Have a suggestion for Silverstone ST60F, another option is Cooler Master GX II 650W Bronze available for 3k in the Buy/Sell Section, which one do you guys recommend? Or any other recommendations for a PSU.

Ordered the MWE 550 Bronze V2. Finally coming to the case, thinking b/w Silverstone FARA R1, Lianli Lancool 215 or the Chiptronex HX1000. R1 is cheaper but only has 1 rear fan included, Chiptronex has 3 fans and is quite cheap as well, getting it at ~3400 bucks but not very confident about the looks and build quality, any other cost effective but elegant suggestions?
