I'm anxiously waiting for the 'Attack of the Saints' level. I absolutely loved the way they had presented the trailer. Hope we get to actually kill those assassins. :D

BTW, Blacky, I managed to complete the Derelict building level just minutes after I posted my query. I couldn't snag extra points for hiding the dead body though, as that task seemed to be a bit difficult. :(

@Ethan_Hunt: Mate, completed 2 more levels and posted my stats and thoughts on page 18 of this thread. Hope you saw. :)

Btw, which dead body could you not hide? :O

I did. I posted my message just before I logged off at work. So didn't get the chance to commend you on it, but great job though. :)

I'm not sure if you know this, but the body that you use to distract those guards, is an actual dead body. It can be stashed into one of those hiding spots to gain additional points. At first I thought it was a mannequin which was used for distraction, but then I over-heard the cops talking about searching for a dead body in that area. I tried a lot but couldn't get all the guards distracted enough to sneak it away. :(

Ethan_Hunt: Thanks mate! :)

Regarding the dead body... I ended up using that as an obvious distraction but boy didn't know that you could stash it away. Nice find Ethan!!

EDIT: Maybe to hide that body you would have to first start pacifying guards. There's a very slim chance on that part to actually drag that body somewhere and hide it.

It's doable, trust me. I found a guy on YouTube doing a speed-run for this whole level in an ingenious way. His trick was to grab the gasoline can (found near the dead body) and take it all the way up to the start of the area. He then proceeds to shoot it using his silenced pistol and that causes a huge explosion. This creates enough distraction for those chunk of cops to move away from that spot and inspect the blast. This is the time when he takes the opportunity to drop the dead body and slowly sneak it away into the small room to hide it. All of this done without being spotted.

@Ethan_Hunt: I like that strategy but I'm generally not a huge fan of speed-runs in stealth games, never have been. I like a spaced out well thought out planned play-through that has more solid chances of success. But then again that's just me.

Btw, you know I'm missing the musical finesse of Blood Money a lot in this game. Playing through the levels in BM with all those beautifully created musical scores by Jesper Kyd was a pure pleasure. I mean the music in the Vegas levels in BM added so much to the feel of the level. Here, the music kind of seems starkly devoid of soul to me. :(

Black_Hawk: I'm pretty sure he might have got it right after a gazillion tries. It's like one of us doing a speed run just to show another user how 'a' particular situation is handled. It was just to prove that this was achievable.

Anyway, about the soundtrack, I can't agree more with missing out on Jesper Kyd's music composition. The tunes are extremely repetitive in this one. I really feel Jesper Kyd should have skipped Borderland 2 altogether and could have been involved in this project. A game like Boderlands doesn't really need a kick-ass soundtrack, not that it hurts to have one, but it really didn't require Kyd. I still remember getting goosebumps from Silent Assassin's main theme. Then of course Ave Maria was placed so gracefully in Blood Money. I guess studios eventually have to move on and give other composers a chance too.

Ethan_Hunt: There are only 2 gripes I have with this game so far:

1. The botched ranking mechanism which still makes little sense to me sometimes. I will complete a mission, get SA kills, never be spotted and till the final end-mission stats screen get to see a SA ranking when I check my stat's screen (with the help of pressing the F1 key) and after the mission I'm presented with a 'Shadow' ranking... hurts to say the least after all the hard work put into the missions.

2. The lack-luster soundtrack. Hitman Absolution without the touch of Jesper Kyd... just doesn't feel right at all.

EDIT: I plan to do quite a lot of progress through the weekend ahead with the game. :)

Weekend progress has already started! :)

The 10th mission 'End of the Road' so much so wasn't really a mission in itself so got the 11th mission of the game done. Here are the stats:

Dexter Industries (Purist Difficulty):

I. Dead End:

hma2012120521062453.jpg

II. Old Mill:

hma2012120521063225.jpg

III. Descent:

hma2012120521063999.jpg

IV. Factory Compound:

hma2012120521064683.jpg

That's the best rank I could get in this mission. No matter what I did I had to pacify at least 2 guards in the second sub-level of the mission, 'Old Mill'. If anybody can get through this sub-section with pacifying no guards or only pacifying one guard (as against my 2) on Purist difficulty... please do post the strategy to do so (no speed-runs however, I'm a stickler for a planned smooth stealth approach so would approach one such). I have tried that level a gazillion times over but 2 is the least number I can come up with, can't for the life of me get any cleaner. I'm not extremely happy with the 'Specialist' ranking but I guess the rankings of the game seem to even out on non-assassination levels particularly so I'll take it. I have ranted over the game's ranking system before so no more on that.

Here's something really funny and probably the best disguise I found in the game so far ():

Next up should I be able to complete the next 2 levels tomorrow... no plans but playing Hitman Absolution.

Ethan_Hunt: Where you at mate, which level are you on currently? :)

@Black_Hawk: I'm still on 'Convenience Store' part of Hunter and Hunted. I couldn't devote any time to the game today. I had almost made it to the end of this level, but got spotted by that darned cop who is present right before the exit area. That's the only tricky part for me, but I'll make it through. Are the latter levels this time consuming too or short? My progress seems to be going painstakingly slow. :(

@Ethan_Hunt: As you progress the guard evasion part becomes more of a second nature so it gets a tad easier IMHO. But yes the timing and trial and error still exists, in plenty at times mate. Regarding the length of the levels... few are short but others are long with many sub-levels.

Regarding the one guard at the end of the 'Convenience Store':

Just stick to the left of the store on the end part, stick to some cover (in the middle of the open room) and throw a bottle behind the guard. He will turn around and that's the window you need to sneak to the exit door ahead. Or, you could just use instinct and walk by the guard and he won't get the better of you.

After yesterday's late night gaming session another one downed:

Death Factory (Purist Difficulty):

Test Facility:

Decontamination:

R&D:

This level was difficult and it mainly lay in the fact of figuring out where to go and how to complete the objectives and as always on Purist you get no hints so it's tough to ascertain at times what to do next and how to cleanly bring the targets down. The first sub-level took the most time for me to get the approach and paths right. But as one can see the highest rank achievable here is Shadow, as the game averages your rankings over all the sub-levels together it's about right. Also, the guard patterns wildly alter in this level depending on the timing you clock so if my timing was even a margin off I would get spotted by one guard or the other, dare I forget those pesky doctors who have hawk eyes! :23:

Also, just for the record I'm posting this screenshot below to show that even though my sub-level stats (this was for the third sub-level with 2 targets to eliminate) was a pristine SA ranking, I got a Shadow rank at the end-mission screen. This is due to the fact that the second sub-level 'Decontamination' which you can only get an Agent rank in (as there are no targets to eliminate there) makes the game's ranking mechanism average-out the rankings over the entire mission with all the sub-levels included and dish out a Shadow rank at the final end-mission screen:

R&D Sub-level SA Ranking:

Right there you have it, today it's going to be Fight Night and the pre-mission cutscene has made me believe this is going to be a rather fun mission indeed! :)

Haven't played this game after finishing the first level. Everything from the graphics to the gameplay just does not feel 'AAA' to me. Is it just me?...as I went into this with extreme expectations.

back after a break from this game did anyone completed "The terminus: part 1" with suit only.I am still trying.:(

Yes sir... as a matter of fact I did. Suit only, no pacifications on Purist. The key here was timing and following the patterns of the guards. When you have that by heart the sneaking part will smoothly follow. Good luck mate! :)

Ethan_Hunt: Any progress today? I spent the entire day having a fun time with the 'Fight Night' level (mission 13). Got the Shadow rank (highest achievable here me thinks) on Accidents Only and Garrote approach but the entire evening got eaten up with the suit only, no pacification approach. Got it done 95% but the last bit is killing me!! I'm going to take a break now and come back to it later on at night maybe... have to get it right, I must. Will post the stats tomorrow morning of the AO and Garrote approach though.

Graphics does not feel 'AAA'? What resolution are you playing at 640x480?

EDIT: Black_Hawk: I managed to complete the Convenience Store and Loading Area. I couldn't pull off Suit Only in the Loading area, but I'll re-try it once I'm done with Chinatown. I'm now completing the remaining challenges. Did you manage to get the secret disguise in this area?

Ethan_Hunt: I got that similar kind of a secret disguise on the level 'Dexter Industries' much later on in the game and in fact posted a screenshot with a spoiler tag earlier in the thread. It's a rather fun disguise to wear and roam the map, lol! On this level I did not use any disguises, got it done suit only. :)

Here's a small video of the location of the secret disguise in this level:

P.S. I have completed challenges on the levels I have played but definitely not all. I will return to the remaining incomplete challenges once I have completed all 20 levels of the game and managed or at least tried my best to get the highest possible ranks in them. :)

@Ethan_Hunt: Mate I have a few questions for you regarding completing the challenges in the different levels of the game as I do remember you have been doing challenges for the levels. Now, I'm slowly nearing the last few levels of the game and I also wanted to go back and finish up the challenges in each level. Now I was taking a look at the challenges screen for some of the levels and it seems while playing through the game I have actually completed quite a few of the challenges unknowingly (eg: suit only, garrote kill targets, not being spotted, etc.). Now the one's I have yet to complete I have a a couple of questions regarding those so here they are:

1. Can I choose any difficulty for completing challenges (besides easy of course)? Since I have thus far only played the game on purist difficulty and completed some of the challenges while playing through the levels on purist will they stay completed if I chose another difficulty like say normal or will I have to in that case again have to do the challenges from scratch on normal since I switched difficulty? Although I must mention here I am tending towards doing the remaining one's on purist as well but never hurts to know.

2. Also, suppose there are 10 challenges in a certain level and while playing I have completed 5 of them, do I need to go through the entire mission time and again after completing a challenge or is it enough to complete a certain challenge and just end the sub-level of a mission to make it show up as completed in the game stats screen? Or is it even simpler like just complete a challenge and you can quit the mission right there and the game will count it as challenge completed?

Do let me know mate. :)

The challenges can be completed on any difficulty, except Easy. Once completed, they should be be unlocked for the remainder of your play-through. It doesn't matter what difficulty you complete them on, as they just tend to be a multiplier to your overall score.

You can complete a challenge, restart the checkpoint and complete the remaining ones in that area. Once a challenge is complete, you'll get tick in the checkbox next to it. However, if you quit without completing the mission, then the score would be reset for that level. So if you just plan to complete the challenges, I suggest you do it only after completing the main game.
