Just became available in Mumbai 28750. Its Graphite (brown ) model.

28750 is too steep :no::no:

No mobile site has any info on the desire. The launch is too soft and unless one is keen, would not even notice this is available in india. HTC India seriously needs to re-think its marketing strategy.

Look at samsung, they are going all out promoting Wave and Galaxy....

So has anyone in Delhi got it yet or has everyone purchased the Galaxy S? :P

One dealer I have been talking to has been yanking me along - from Friday evening to Saturday to Monday afternoon, and now tomorrow. Typical.

And that's the reason that pushed me towards SGS. I am an impatient man :P.

Of course you are right about the hardware. But after being asked to pay 28K for a flagship phone I won't for a moment pretend that aesthetics and production quality are not important to me :P Now if someone makes a nice aftermarket battery cover for the Galaxy, my decision will be made easier. I really want to buy this phone but Samsung is making my life difficult with shoddy choices:(

Not able to find anywhere in Delhi? Some dealers should be having stock..

What price is your dealer quoting? All inclusive..

^ Out of 3 dealers I am in touch with, 2 aren't really even aware the phone is launched in India. The third guy has been yanking my chain that it will come tomorrow, tomorrow tomorrow since Friday. I haven't even bothered to ask him the price.

No but some people on thinkdigit forums seem to have got it from flipkart. They confirmed that they got a proper bill with VAT etc. The only retailer who even is aware of the launch of this phone has been yanking me along for the last 5 days, and so has HTC India. They first claimed that it will definitely be available in the market this past Monday. Now today they said either tomorrow or definitely by the 28th. So I ordered off flipkart. f*** 'em. Anyway dealers would haggle over discounts and 2% credit card charges etc. At least this way the transaction is seamless. And apparently they will deliver it in 2-3 days, so cool cool. Now at least I know it's on it's way!!!

^ Cool... and guess you'll be getting the black edition too :)

Please post a detailed review once you get your hands on this baby.........

^ Will do. I have my doubts on the black version - I have a feeling that the greyish brown thing only is being described by them as black. But anyway, I am excited either way!

Hahahahaha... this had to happen. The dealer just called me and said it is now available with him, and for 27k!! :P My shitty luck... Anyway, whatever... if anyone wants it it's available in Lajpat Nagar (Ph: 9811190982, Add: K-17, LGF, Alankar Road Lajpat Nagar-II).

Got the phone a couple of days back - superb device!!! Really impressed! And also quite impressed with Flipkart, who delivered the product almost exactly within 24 hours of me placing the order all the way from Bangalore to Delhi!!

The Super LCD screen is awesome - I have seen the Galaxy S and now my Desire, and though I have not put them side by side, I really don't think in day to day use to the average eye there is 'that' much difference. The screen is beautiful, clear and crisp, and very responsive. Only small gripes I have are: they really skimped on the goodies (all that came in the box was the wall USB charger (really short usb cable maybe 3 ft., earphones and a 2GB memory card), it doesn't come with a screen protector at all so you need to get the screen protector put instantly. (This is a problem for me as I am still waiting on my invisible shield to get delivered), They should have at least given a simple pouch (Some 10-12k phones comes with a leather pouch, why not a 27k phone?).

Will maybe give a detailed review later, but if anyone has any particular questions, please don't hesitate.

^^ hey that's great. Have been waiting eagerly for a hands on. I am planning to take the plunge in a couple of weeks and my primary concern is the battery. I know it's still very early(and you would be playing around with the phone more), but how do you find the battery life to be??

And yeah..2GB card for a 27K mobile...HTC should have done better. And every manufacturer seems to be cutting costs with the accessories. Have you seen the data cables that comes with the nokia phones?? it's hardly couple of inches in length... Phone will be hanging from cable if you connect it to a PC with front USB port in the middle of the cabinet.

@veb.. got too involved with the phone that you dont have time to post a review? ;);)

Heh :) yes and no!

I have still not put my sim card in it and started using it as a phone as I had to figure out how to get contacts out of my elcheapo nokia phone. I was finally able to do that yesterday. Now I am waiting for the invisible shield that's supposedly en route from the States, and only then would I want to take it out. I am too paranoid about scratches. So I will only write a review then!
