I have still not put my sim card in it and started using it as a phone as I had to figure out how to get contacts out of my elcheapo nokia phone. I was finally able to do that yesterday. Now I am waiting for the invisible shield that's supposedly en route from the States, and only then would I want to take it out. I am too paranoid about scratches. So I will only write a review then!

Heyy...So you are basically using it, but not carrying it out with you. Good then. I thought you have kept it locked in its box and sitting beside like a saint trying to overcome the "desire" to use it....vebk said:

Can you give your view on how the Divx playback is on the mobile??
Can you hold and use it with one hand? I mean texting and all basic navigation stuff on the phone holding it securely in one hand? I'm still a little apprehensive about one handed usage..And I agree with vpraveenis - while a large screen is sweet in some regards (browsing etc.) in day to day usage 3.7" hits the sweet spot. Hmmm.. suggest you hold on a little and completely use the 2.1 Only then you can feel the real difference between the 2.1 and 2.2. Once it's released, it's going to be there any time you need... so test the waters with 2.1 and jump into 2.2 a little later

Already updated it to Froyo. A few new apps (Google voice search, Flashlight, Google news and weather etc.) but other than that not much new that pops out.
As for one handed usage, yeah you can use it. You can even type a message, but it will be slow. Two handed typing in landscape mode ftw though. Haven't tried Divx playback - need to get a better memory card first!

I tried it - quite average. But then I have been spoilt by the 720p video recording with optical zoom on my Panasonic Lumix.
Honestly, I don't care for mobile phone cameras/camcorders. They can never replicate or substitute regular digicams. Honestly, I don't envision using the camera/camcorder on the Desire except while taking picture of people committing traffic violations, so that I can post them on the Delhi Traffic Police Facebook page and get them challaned. And for that purpose the Desire's lens are sufficient.

Just checked Univercell (Chennai). They are quoting 28K (including tax etc.).
Went there to seee a demo piece but that would take another week they said. Right now only selling boxed product.
Are the other prices mentioned here including tax? And are the phones the newly released (in India) model?
