I'm quite surprised I haven't seen one of these threads already. Looking at the biggest flagship phones for this year (till now, and perhaps for the rest of the year from both HTC and Samsung), I'm looking to buy one of them. I simply don't know which one to pick.

- I love the HTC One design, though Galaxy S4's compact shell is great as well.
- I like Sense quite a lot, TouchWiz is okay. But it's the added Software tweaks by Samsung that make the experience quite amazing, if I am to believe the adds.
- The Galaxy S4 simply has a much better camera than the HTC One.
- The Super AMOLED display has it's advantages (Daydream, pure black) but the SLCD display is gorgeous as well.

As you can see, I'm pretty messed up here :D. Don't know what to do. Don't want to end up buying an UMI X2 (or a rumored Micromax Canvas A120) or something. Why would I do that?
- Priced around 15k
- 1080p display
- Quad core
- 2 GB RAM
- 13 MP cam
- Android 4.2.1 JB

Samsung repaired my Galaxy S in three days (couple of years back). I was playing with voltage and clock settings of my phone and it started overheating. I immediately flashed it with Stock Firmware even then phone was overheating. Because of overheat, display and motherboard had gone kaput. I immediately went to Samsung Care. I told that guy I needed the phone immediately since I was going on weekend trip. He promised me that I will get the phone in five days. I got a call from Samsung on third day itself. Phone is healthy and strong since then :-)

I would definitely say, their customer care is too good.

Exactly! That's what I'm talking about. Has anybody here with a FLAGSHIP One X faced a problem like this? Or is it just 'people' bashing the HTC One and it's poor repair-ability and how poor it's service will be despite being a flagship for the heck of it?

You don't see an iPhone going for repairs because nothing goes wrong. Same applies to a phone. Once it's working it's working. Whatever has to go wrong happens in the first few days itself. Premium phones just don't develop problems out of the blue.

Mate,
Do you really want to make an informed choice or just want to have this thread running to finally justify your 99.9% inclination towards HTC phone?

I already mentioned its a personal choice. If you feel so strongly about it.. Go ahead and purchase it.
Nobody said the service center people gobble the phone up and your money goes Poof!

But what kinda statement is that a phone has to go bad it does so within the first few days??
And you claim that you are writing tech based articles??

IF a premium phone goes bad after your so called FEW days.. then what?

The very purpose of a thread on a tech forum is to have a meaningful discussion and then make a logical and an informed choice. At the end of the day its your money and your choice. So spend as you pls.
Even i ll ignore all the logical points if i cant control the urge to possess an uber device.

So take your decision based on your pref, but do not make ridiculous statements. There are many non tech people or young tech enthusiast who visit the forums, and it ll be best not to clutter their minds.

Final analysis: Samsung S4> Xperia Z> HTC One
If i had to pick up a non replaceable battery phone, it wd have been Xperia Z.

Apple will just replace your phone on the spot (in warranty) if something goes bad. But that's how they operate.

Also be it HTC/Samsung/Anyone, they won't give some special importance to flagships like giving greater turnaround times for repair or anything. So do not expect this at least in India.

Sony is giving on the spot replacement for Xperia Z.

Don't know why you're getting so worked up about this. I created this thread. I steer the discussion according to what I want because finally it's about WHAT I WANT but I'm filling in your opinions, NOT YOUR SHIT. If you don't like it please LEAVE but do not write crap.

And mention the ridiculous statement in BOLD and tell me if I'M WRONG instead of writing an essay with no layout or structure. People are PICKING on the HTC ONE (LITERALLY) and I'm just trying to defend it as it's my preferred choice. If somebody does manage to nullify all my defensesthen I truly give up and go for the next best option. Is that clear?

I stated what was obvious.
People gave you the evidence, direct and indirect which really should have been enough to come to a logical conclusion.

Just to make things clear, i am not at all worked up. Nor was i in a foul mood when i wrote the reply earlier.
Internet is a funny place where people should wait and confirm things before going crazy.

Anyhow, i made the points clearly and in a lucid fashion. There is not too much left to contribute from my side either. Also, I find it awkward when the language gets even a wee bit loose. So, I ll take a leave from the thread. I hope posts from my side will help you and others.

Nokia definitely gives priority to its flagship phones. I was allotted a priority queue to deal with since I was there for a Lumia. And that was Windows Phone 7

There is nothin like flagship when your device goes to service Centre or once it lands on their service desk. Flagship device is just a stupid name, doesn't mean much in real world. Not even in terms of software updates these days.

Apple is completely diff all together.

Can't confirm about Xperia z coz at many places Sony service is provided by 3rd party company like Redington etc and in such scenario you will never get on the spot replacement and even if you do, then they must be refurbished.. But as far as I know even refurbished isn't possible.

It's actually quite clear that OP wants to buy htc and he's just looking for a couple of convincing posts which would give him confidence about buying htc.. Coz his mind says htc but he's scared about what's mentioned here.

In the end, I guess enough inputs been given to you, your money your life your usage.. If your device work flawlessly then it's your good luck if your device is screwed and its stuck at htc for months then too its your luck.

And oh, Btw! HTC does not give any standby phone, not even dumb phone, instead your device will be used by their technician as his personal device in the name of "testing".. Which is good but not good if he takes it home and uses it as his personal device.

@OP

Buy HTC if you feel it is right for you, don't look for anyone to convince you. Ultimately you need to use the phone so its your decision. But yes there is always a "chance" that phone might develop some issue which in itself is not a problem but if the service is pathetic then that is a problem for sure. You have to take into account such scenario.

Buy Samsung S4 if you want and would like to boast of having the most powerful phone and want the software gimmicks and useful things like microSD card slot and user removable battery. Repair should be good as many people mentioned samsung centers have faster turnaround times for repair.

And yes 3rd option from personal kitty that is, buy second hand iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 if you can live with the 3.5"/4" screen and the restrictive OS. Only and Only buy an iPhone if you know what you are dealing with and never try to use an iOS device as android else it will leave you frustrated. I am pretty sure you will get top notch service if something goes bad with the phone (in warranty) and not sure if the out of warranty replacement is available in India or not but for US etc, there is some 200$ or so for out of warranty replacement. But iPhones going bad is not common so you know you will most probably end up with a reliable device.
But you are free to completely ignore the above iPhone paragraph if you do not want it.

Okay. I've pretty much made up my mind. With all things considered, the Xperia Z seems like the best deal for me (or ZL). I think I will buy either of these. Considerations:

- Beautiful Design and Software
- Service Centers and Good Support
- Excellent Community Support (Jerplea has the XZ, if you know who he is from Team FXP and CM and so does DooMLorD)

It's either the Xperia Z or ZL. If I don't pick out of any of these, know this that I will have broken my head banging it on some wall I will buy a phone when the next wave of flagships come out (right when they release, no waiting for months) July-October time frame (internal sources, also Nexus 5 and Motorola Nexus X).

Thank you guys for the great debate. It was a pleasure seeing everyone's points and *coughs arguments. You may continue the great debate between the Galaxy S4 and the HTC One as this thread can continue serving it's purpose for all those who are confused between these two phones (and the Xperia Z included).

Do check out who handles A.S.S for Sony in your city. I had pathetic experience with the 3rd party, Salora Infotech which Sony had outsourced their A.S.S to in Chandigarh.
Also, if you go for the HTC One, I would suggest you wait for the second or third batch as there have been reports of hardware and software defects in the first batch.

Xperia z just for one thing an that it's gone AOSP. Rest all what you mentioned is humbug. Sony software is piece of crap and its design isn't a big deal either.

Yes please check Sony ASS.

Roflmfao @ S4.

S4 is one such device that you don't really need to flash a custom rom coz it's fully loaded with features. Also you'll get roms based on stock s4 roms with bloatware removed.

Now it's upto you lol.

Again that's your opinion. I and a lot of my friends just love Sony's take on the UI. It is so intuitive and not just a copy of iPhone's UI as TW is.

Again one should decide by looking at his/her usage. I had the Note 2 for nearly 3 months and I only used the S-Pen 10 times at max. Though it was great to type with it, but it was cumbersome too. As for Airplay(whatever it was called), I was rarely able to get it to work. Same goes for SmartStay.

A lot of the powerusers these days just root their phones, install their preferred launcher, wallpaper and icons and bam, you can have the same look across all your devices( apart from the pull-down notification menu).

Been telling since beginning.. Xperia z nothing big deal about its looks at all.

Btw, HTC One priced at 42,900/- (43k) and its India release has been delayed to May 7th.

Exactly.

And also, phones have got SO powerful now, it doesn't even matter if a phone is beating a phone by 5-10%.

Buy what you like and not what others tell you. None of the three companies here have made a bad flagship phone.

Just checked out Xperia Z and S4 at reliance digital... Xperia Z not great.. What's so effing good in its Design?

The minimalistic design of the Z just gets me everytime I look at it. So clean. I keep on drooling over it even after owning the phone for over a month.

What's good? It's awesome xD Super sexy phone. Plus the obvious advantage of water/dust proofing.

In the last year, the three most beautiful phones to release have been the iPhone 5, the Xperia Z and the HTC ONE.
