Sounds like a CPU bottleneck, ask techboy  I seriously wonder how he's doing with Carbon now :P

Actually you may be right...... My brain isnt working and I forgot abt that :P

Let me see....will try to put a LAN card and think abt oc'ing my system....

Thanks for the obvious but overlooked suggestion Rio :D

How different is this from NFS UG2 or NFS MW ??

The game always stutters when I hit the NOS. Goes down to 9-10FPS. Settings at 1024 x 768 and 4x AA and 8X AF.

Many of the settings in the game (like world detail and Car reflection) reduced to medium from High.

NFS MW ran smooth as butter. This doesnt look better and has no reason to run like crap

just cause a game doesnt look better than another game doesnt mean its gonna run better. its a classic example of bad coding. although its the same engine mw & carbon. the night reflections etc is what should be causing the slowdown & especially if i had a 6800gt i would forget about fsaa atleast.

stormy's right - I personally run MW @ 1680x1050 > no FSAA > low world detail > high car detail > high road/car reflection update rate, and get 45-55fps. Wonder how my 6800gt with these settings will scale in Carbon.

It might be the case that the newer game is using a lot of dx9c branching in the shaders. Thats something that kills G70/G71 and earlier.

ya what u say maybe right. but he is using a 6800gt. he needs to optimize settings to run on his card rather than just set everything to max. the card can handle some settings on high n medium still if u keep aa off.

environment graphics suck for all NFS games when you compare them to first person shooters :P
NFS 2, 3, 4, 5, all had very good environment graphics, even compared to the first person shooters of those times.

NFS 5 was especially a case study in artistic excellence breaking through all technical limitations. And it looks great even today, only the cars look bad.

Post UG, it's just EA being an ass since they realised they can actually sell a racing game with just 1 track as long as they include lots of rap music and blur 3/4th of the screen.

I couldnt have put it better.

And abt NFS porsche, the best was Cote D azur and Auvergne. Just look at those tracks...so beautiful. Looks good even 6 yrs later !!

And the car models also look quite decent. They dont put me off as much as HL 1 :P I can play NFS Porsche again and again.

i have played the demo and i think carbon rocks especially the canyon duel. ;)

the three classes of cars actually behaves differently unlike mw where every car seemed to behave very similar. exotics are fast, muscles are good for drift and tuners are the best :P

the gfx are quite okay if u ask me. i dunno how ppl can compare mw gfx with carbon. thers a huge diff. between day and night setups. i have run the demo with shader details to medium and all other settings on high, 4x AA and 1024x768 screen res. on my 6600gt and its completely playable. I haven't measured the frame rates but as long as u can play and play it smooth, who the hell cares abt frame rates.

i haven't even attempted downloading the demo of nfs carbon :ashamed:

reason? my 9600 pro... i dont think it can handle anything..and going by rave's findings it doesnt seems pretty :P

But i totally agree with nikhil .. Porsche unleashed was brilliant...the interface, the cars (classic, present and racing breed) , in fact i learnt quite a bit about Porsche playing the game...and the cars handled almost like they would in real life :O all this fun before some a$$ stole my cd :@ though i admit it was "original" :ashamed: :D

Edit: Does anyone here think that EA is overdoing the reflections in games now... road reflection and car reflection look a bit too overdone now :S

well lot of bad reviews here i see for the game, as far as i have got personal reviews there havent been ne abrupt crashes or hangs :S, i will be getting the game today and check it out myself...

it never crashed ingame ......... but yesterday i didn't got to the desktop after quiting the game lol ...... have to force restart the comp

Rahul and others experiencing this issue..... what exactly is happening? You quit the game and get a blank screen? Could it just be the GeForce cards? :D Perhaps driver issue if you guys are on the latest 93.71 drivers? :D If yes, go back to 81.98 man, most stable :P

I used to have this problem too...

Then it just stopped. Now, I can quit properly to the desktop.

Try one thing.,... make sure DAEMON tools isnt running.

If that doesnt work, then create another ALIAS in Career mode and continue playing with your old alias.

Once I created another alias, the problem stopped.

The handling is different. The muscle cars suck though :P It is nearly impossible to play with those cars.

But I think the exotics are the best and fastest...

^^Its not an nv bug for sure. Its there on ATI as well cos it happened to me too and more than once. I learnt it the hard way that the best way to quit this buggy game is to alt+tab from the menu and kill the damn thing.

u 4get 1 of the most badass tracks called autobahn.

there was no track that was bad in porsche. even normandi owned. not to mention the ownage factory mode single player which million times better than crappy ug races & getting chased by cops.

btw game quits fine for me. only had hung once & had to force restart when i did alt f4. so dint try it again.
