My dad has an Asus M10 and the UI and speed are just too good. It lasts about 2-3 days on a single charge, so better than any android phone..
Looking forward to buying a Win Phone Mango device for a change.. :)

The Samsung Galaxy W would be a better option there. Also what your dad has, is a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone which was probably wrapped twice over with some custom UI. Sure WM6.5 wasn't that bad but it was eons away from both Android and iOS. Also you're father is lucky to get that phone, it is probably one of the few good WM6.5 phones aside from the Omnia, HD2 and a few others.

iPhone 4 maybe... but the Lumia nope. Plus the RAZR doesn't feel anywhere as good as those two !
What about the HTC Legend?

I don't understand why anybody would want to buy the Lumia 800 at 30k, when Lumia 710 is available at 19k. Compare the two specs. All 800 has over 710 is a AMOLED screen, 8 GB of extra storage space and a better camera. Processor, resolution, RAM, etc is exactly the same. Paying 11k more for just this is definitely not worth it.

Personally I am planning to buy either the Lumia 710 or the Samsung Omnia W. Waiting for the prices to stabilize.

^^ You're paying for the quality. There's no comparison between them in terms of looks. The AMOLED screen is absolutely gorgeous. If it was around 26k , You'd be daft not to step up to the 800. At 30k , i can see your view point. I'll still go for the more premium handset though :P

Well that is an entirely different story. I personally don't bother with what people think about brands... if i feel the product is worth it , it gets my cash. You are of course entitled to your opinion. Brand perception does not change the fact that Lumia is gorgeous and totally a high end device... Thats good enough for me.

Nokia and premium, these two words do not exactly go hand in hand these days.
I beg to differ. Nokia is the only premium brand recognized in our country apart from Apple ofcourse.

Poor Samsung , LG etc are prejudiced despite good offerings.

It's not my opinion. Just came across a conversation among my friends as a mute spectator.

^ I agree to that. I had a hard time convincing my non techie friend to get an SGS2 or an Optimus. They were 'after all Samsung'

I agree brand perception is BS. If it is good, it is. Would gladly take up Windows if it becomes more stable and app support bcs decent.

PS: Lumia is a gorgeous device! The glass and polycarbonate mating is stunning to say the least. Feels like the screen is floating!

Used it for 2hrs after my friend bought an opened/show piece for 28000, it has buttery interface and hell its light and very elegant "Much more than SII". But its not worth the amount or even 25k ftm, i am sorry but i would rather buy DEFY+ "Single core" or LG 2X "Dual core". Google nexus when launched will be around 35k so not worth it at all and S2 is a problem because of its non-std Exynos chipset.

EDIT: Its a good interface for old people but then again no old person will spend 30k on this, they prefer sturdy phones like DEFY but android is too complicate for them. A defy with WM7 would be the best of both worlds :P for them.

Care to give a REAL reason ? I can't take you seriously when you say that the Galaxy Nexus is not worth it and the S2 is a problem :) After using the Nexus , i'd say its absolutely one of the best Android phones EVER !

@abracadabra Yea.. well they're working on a fix. All operating system's have their fair share of issues , recently i remember reading this : Android glitch allows hackers to bug phone calls ? The Register

Windows mobile interface is for 'OLD' persons? Are you out of your mind?

I've been using the Lumia 800 for 3 days now, and I'd say the Mango interface is one of the sleekest and polished yet. I won't rant about what some platform has and what it doesn't, because acceptance lies inside one person. If you think Defy is your phone, go for it. If you think iPhone gets you drooling, go for it. If it's WinMo, good as well. We sure as hell don't need crap like 'This platform sucks' or 'My SGS2 is better' because those claims are just amateurish fanaticism, nothing else.

Every platform has flaws, one or the other. Us, as customers, want all of them to be in a competitive zone so in the end we have many options to choose from. It's a win-win for us if all the platforms evolve and become good for us.

As for the Lumia 800, I think the pricing is a little steep. I say a little because when you get a chance to use it, you'd realize that it is worth your every penny. I have a good long deal of experience with Android, but still I'd go out on a limb and say, this is by far the best looking phone ever made. Period. User experience is pleasing, the clearBlack AMOLED is a thing to be seen in person, and as Dhruv said, it feels like a premium handset. I am every bit satisfied with the device.

Lastly, everything depends on your taste and budget. But do not compare devices because it's got an interface for the 'OLD' people or recommending a phone only cuz it's 'Sturdy'.

Cheers.

This needs to be stickied on every "this platform is better than that platform" thread. Way i see it, the more the

merrier. Competition between platforms only bodes well for us consumers. I'd love to see Meego, WebOS get developed further and have respectable eco-systems of their own too.

Hell, regarding brand perception. I remember a very funny moment, when a year ago I got the optimus one. When my mom asked "which phone did you get, nokia?". I answered "no.LG". And the moment I say those words, her eyes follow the general direction of our double door refrigator. Priceless. Anyway I personally don't care if my phone is made by techcom or enter. If it's good enough, it's good enough. In past have been burned by high end phones like nokia, samsung, moto and what not.

I have briefly seen the Windows Phone 7 interface, and it felt wonderful. It was only device which felt as smooth as an IOS, and it did not even have Mango update.

Apart from hardware limitations (do they really matter?) where does Android score over Windows Phone 7? I would not care for millions of useless apps (till the essential ones are covered). And how does the WP7 (Lumia 710) battery life compare to Android devices?

Guys, I really want to try WP7. Do you think HTC Titan is a good buy at around 20k. No warranty but I don't mind that. Phone is BNIB and if I'm correct unlockable by code.
