Guys i have a query regarding Air Asia.

On their website i am not able to find the checked in and cabbin baggage options/limits :S

But there is something called as super size baggage thing which talks about purchase of luggage limit. Is it that by default no checked in baggage allowed (i know it sounds weird) or how is it ?

Please explain

u have to pay separately for checking baggage ....AirAsia - Fee schedule

Hehe.. Air Asia is low cost airline only when you just need a seat to sit in. Food, baggage, blanket, seat preference etc cost you over and above. After all that it comes close to as much as any other airline.

Do remember to select your seats and pay for that. Otherwise you and your wife might end up on separate corners of the flight.

Does that happen while booking itself? Or at the airport when they issue the boarding pass?

Can anyone who has been to Bangkok tell me which is a preferable hotel/area for 3 nights stay there ?

I found the Holiday Inn simon on simon road with good rates. But i guess the sukhmvit (hope i got name right) road is more popular.

So which would be preferred choice ?

To be frank, i am getting a difference in cost of about 4500 rupees for the total 3 nights stay between holiday Inn and another hotel on sukhmvit road (simon being cheaper).

Plz suggest

^^ December end :D

And yeah Pattaya is out of the list as getting maximum negative reactions to that from all places including my cousin who has been in Thailand for past 4 years.

Phuket is In along with Bangkok

Hey buddy congratulations!!!!!!!!! sorry, could not reply earlier, as I was getting late from office because have to give handover before going for a leave.

Last year we also went to Phuket and Bangkok. In Phuket we stayed in Andaman hotel at Patong beach. Brother, place is beautiful. Crystal clear water. Amazing. In Phuket I would suggest that you stay at Pataong beach. It not only has clear beaches, but also lot of water activities. Many delicious thai street food stalls was just near to our hotel. ( its is quite cheap). Do take a tour of James bond island and Phang Nga tour. It is worth every penny. Take a group tour in speed boat and not in ship as it will not take you to the different island included in the tour as water is shallow.

I understand that you will be going to Bangkok mainly for shopping. Last year and also this year, we are staying in Pratuam area. It is were Platinum fashion mall, Pantip (computer) plaza are located. Try to be there on saturday and sunday so that you can also visit Chatuchak Weekend Market. It is whn many sellers come together at a place and you have variety of shopping option ( mainly cloths, bags and house hold items). Worth the visit, at least once.

Since you will be there on new year, price are going to be very high. Even in lean season there are several tourist in Phuket ( for that matter in Thailand).

Asia Travel Hotels Resorts Air Ticketing Tours Packages Reservation and agoda.com has some good deals. I did my booking through local agent.

Will tell you more when I return from my pending trip.....Bon Voyage :)

For rest all i have time in my hand so will be doing accordingly and yes i am going in peak season but still managed to get some good rates.

That is good raksrules....as a suggestion, also mail directly to the hotel about your booking number, arrival date, and room type chosen. I have seen the case, where on net one kind of room was booked and on arrival some other type of room was allocated. Rarest of the rare, but I have seen it, so sharing it with you

^^ yeah thanks for the suggestion, will do it rightaway. :)

Is it necessary to buy travel insurance ?

If yes then from where ? ICICI ? Tata Aig ?

What all is covered in it ?

I got mine as a sticker on the passport prior to the visit. Whereas it was a stamp on arrival for hong-kong.

From India itself.

But stamping on arrival is as well accepted. You can get it done either way. Not a fuss. :)
