Post your overclocks !

My latest overclock. I think I have reached the limit in terms of RAM. It is afterall crappy Kingston Value RAM. What do you guys think??? Good enough for crappy RAM??

I think my CPU has a bit more juice in it. And this is on an A8V DEluxe. No fancy nf3 mobos for me(though that was what I originally wanted and I still want. Except that the XP120 does not fit on a neo2plat).

That is good enough for ur RAM man.. 258MHz is quite a bit.. perhaps u cud use a memory divider to see if u cud up the FSB a little if u feel the CPU cud OC a li'l more.

yep 258 is really good from kingston but thos every very loose timings are hurting the memory bandwidth. I get better numbers with just 220Mhz on memory and 2.5-3-3-7. And score of 63XX with memory at just 212Mhz and 2-3-3-7.

I suggest you decrease RAM speed and rather than running it in sync run it at DDR333 and tighter timings. You may end up getting better memory and overall performance.
A64 likes Low latecies.

Also, it wud give him better bandwidth if he dropped the multiplier, increased the FSB and used the memory divider.. but does A8V Dlx allows all that?

well.. then Nikhil shud definitely try that. coz on my mobo with HTT set to 311 (multiplier = 9) n RAM at 254MHz (using divider) I get about 7.3GB/s in SiSoftSandra 2005.

all depends on RAM timings.
Multiplier will only change the CPU speed. HTT will change CPU as well as memory speed.
I would say 258x10 with DDR333 divider, 1T, 2.5-3-3-7 will give him better results. In rage of 6.2GBps.
if he does 300x8.5 @DDR333 same problem will occur as he will have to loosen the memory timings again.

Thanks for all your advice..... I am now going to try it again. But I tried to run my RAM at 260MHz and it didn't boot up. So, I feel that speed wise, 258 is just abt the limit. Of course, now I will try tightening the RAM timings by dropping the FSB to 230 or something like that.

Thanks for all your suggestions. :D

This is my latest overclock having reduced the speed of RAM and tightened the timings. It is pretty bad. Looks like my system runs better with higher speeds but slightly looser timings. And I can still pish the RAM at these latencies but not right now.... had enough of restarting the computer the whole morning. ;)

And the computer does not start at all at 2-3-3-6 timings. So, I guess my computer is better off at 250MHz RAM at 3-4-4-8. Which is not too bad at all seeing that I am running DDR500 at 3-4-4-8. And this is not even Transcend RAM. Just cheap Kingston VR. (well not exactly cheap..... I got ripped off .... paid 9K for that. DAMN!!!!). Should have started visiting TE before I got my comp. Would have certainly made the right choice then........

are you using 1T or 2T for your memory ? and what bios are you using ? the newer bios on the a8v dont allow for 1t

I am running it on DDR333. And how do I know if it is 1T or 2t? In the BIOS, there is an option for 2T --- Auto, enabled, disabled. I keep it auto.
There is no 1T option
And the BIOS is 1009.

DUDE!!!!! Geil PC 4400 vs Kingston VR. Comparing Mercs and Marutis is unfair. A maruti will run very stable and reliable for years but when asked to perform will not. Same with KVR. Very stable but for oc'ing is really bad. Same goes for benchies.

ok you're on 2T now. reduce your clocks a bit and set it to 1T .

edit: set 2t to disabled i mean

heh, it dosent matter at 220Mhz. Even transcend can do 2.5-3-3-7 at that speed.

And yeah you need to set 2T disabled. And not auto.
