Star Wars: The force awakens - 8.5/10
JJ does a good job of bringing back feel of the original movies.
Pros:
- New characters (especially Boyega and Daisy Ridley) and the primary antagonist.
- Old favorites making a return
- Visuals and action sequences
- BB-8 is adorable (more than R2 - for me at least)
- Nods to the originals

Cons
- The plot and story arc (the main weapon and how the resistance fights it) feels a lot like the original one (Ep 4 & 6). Not exactly a negative, but just a minor gripe.

The Big Short - 6.5/10
They should've named it sub-prime crisis for dummies, I don't know how much more simplified it needs to be until Americans realize how badly they were ****ed.

The Revenant - 6/10
This was basically Leo playing Bear Grylls in the west, the movie didn't need to be that long but that's a trait of all these oscar hopefuls, their runtime has to match Barjatya/Bhansali standards.
Some sequences were brilliantly shot, no surprises there since the camerawork was also impressive in Birdman. Do wait for the BR rips if you plan on watching this, those locations will look great in HD.

Watched:

Star Wars : TFA - 6/10. Nothing special about it. The story is crap IMO.
one guy is hiding for some unknown reason. Whole 'Galaxy' is searching for him. Or rather a map to find him.
I have re-watched the original trilogy recently, as 'preparation' for this. But seems I am not a 'huge' fan of the whole series.

Intern : 7.5/10 : Nice, witty.

Spectre : wtf/10 - the worst Bond movie I have watched.

Maze Runner The Scorch Trials : 2/10 - I didn't even liked the first movie, I am not sure why I watched this one.

I didn't like Skyfall either, so didn't bother with Spectre, yet. The last bond movie I liked was Casino Royale. For me Brosnan was the ultimate bond (since his were the first bond movies I watched).
Did you watch the ones with Tim Dalton ? He seemed the quintessential Bond to me. Unfortunately he didn't get the good stories.

No. Would give them a try then. But as I mentioned, the first bond movie I watched was Golden Eye, so the image of bond for me at least is always Brosnan. Series fans might disagree. I loved the larger than life megalomania-cal villains, the gadgets, the babes, and Bond's ice-cool demeanor. Daniel Craig always seemed so angst-ridden.

Star Wars : The Force Awakens - Don't waste your money on this / 10 . It basically felt like a fan made film. Lot of overacting, no cohesion in stories most of which is rehashed. Only positive was Han's sarcastic dialogues.

The Goonies - 8.3/10
How in the world has nobody in recent memory mentioned this one? I am sure many of us here have played the game during their childhood days. It was pretty good, and glad that the movie isnt any different.

This was a fun watch, the content was good, some good old 80s flick's charm, and the cinematography was excellent. A little more touch of magic from Hook movie on the ship, and this would have been even better.

But a nice kid/teen movie. Was nice to see Josh Brolin's debut film. Sunday movie blast and def a rewatch material.

Remember the Night - 8/10
Nice Christmas themed black n white movie.
Fred MacMurray & Barbara Stanwyck bring out some good screen magic.

The Shop Around the Corner - 7.8/10
James Stewart. Enough said.
Precursor to You got mail, and the word goes around, that this one is far better.

Dazed and Confused - 7.5/10
Feel good, feel fresh movie. Cult teen comedy which definitely will be a fine candidate for a rewatch.
In the familiar league of cult movies like the breakfast club.

Sicario - 8.3/10
Waited long for this one. Did tested my patience initially and did started anticipating..
a certain dinner scene (thanks to some restless souls on the net). Good scenes, but should have been better. Emily's role seemed less developed, del toro had less history shown, and def should have had more takedown scenes.

Creed - 7.3/10

Seems like h'wood is trying to ensnare the new generation into the fold with franchise reboots.
Looked weak, left high and dry.

Was pleasantly shocked that Stallone won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor for his turn in Creed. More eager than ever to watch the movie now.
The ovation he got during the awards was great to watch. Seemed like everybody wanted him to win. Awesome if he could bag an Oscar after all these years and that too aged 70.

Bollywood makes so many movies that are absolute trash that someone like me who barely keeps a track of upcoming movies, what movies are there or went away irrsepective of Bollywood or Hollywood origins simply shuns Bollywood pretending it doesn't exist. Often certain gems or potential gems slip by.

I will talk about the potential gem first.

Ghanchakkar -
This movie had some real potential if it was edited well and by that I mean they should have shown the prologue at the end. The movie post the timeskip gradually turns sinister but that leaves you with just 1 question if the guy is just fooling or really suffers from memory loss. With things being quite clear very early on you really don't feel much for the character as paranoia sets in and tension builds up. A movie that floundered it's potential by trying by showing events in order.

The Gem

Dum Laga Ke Haisha -
A movie that I never heard of but don't know why or for who I downloaded turned out to be probably the best movie I have seen in a long time. The movie is short and within that very short period shows you a lot. People who irrespective of their own qualities want a life partner who they can flaunt as a trophy little realizing that there's more to any relationship than just the physical appearance. People say no to dowry and try to appear as if they have values just so they can have the bride as a source of continious income at a later stage. The mindset of not wanting to change in the form of Casettes and CDs. Overbearing parents who try to pass on their decision as the final decision and control their kid's life and make them follow it irrespective of the kid's feelings. It really is one of those movies that really stands out and can be recommended over pretentious overhyped flicks.

Chameli Ki Shaadi -
A very old movie. If you are a fan of good comedy movies like Andaz Apna Apna, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Hera Pheri (not sequels) etc., then there is no excuse for you to not watch this movie.

Hateful Eight - 8/10 :p

Typical Tarantino pic, dialog heavy, building up to the final showdown. Not his most stellar effort, but a damn enjoyable 2 hrs and 50mnis. Walton Goggins gets a lot of screen time and holds his own against Russell, Jackson, Roth and Madsen.

The censoring does kind of ruin it a little, especially the more gory parts, but they censored "b**ch" but not "nigger"? have some consistency ffs. A decent number of f-bombs do get through though. :D

Was it not A rated ? This is the reason I'll never watch any R rated movie in Indian movie theater.

This maybe because of the our understanding of cuss words - f**k is as bad as sh*t, which is apparent if you see some english shows. But then loads of Hindi movies have this word but shy away from the f word. Same goes for n**ger and b**ch

Horrible Bosses 2 - 5.5/10
Not as funny as the first one, but still ok.

The theory of everything - 7/10
Acting wise just too good. But being a biopic it's very slow.

Zootopia - 8.2/10
Largely a very well done movie. A few instances where it either got predictable/slouched, but i def would recommend this. Hope that they come up with sequels/tv series, as the different regions demarcated deserve a detailed look. Some of the allusions to contemporary stuff kept people guessing throughout.

His Girl Friday - 8.4/10
Brilliant movie imo. Cary Grant fast garnering a position only rivaled by James Stewart for me.
The movie is a laughter riot, and the writers must have crammed about 2 movies' worth of dialogues in there. Fast paced, funny, very capable female partner in tow, and black n white goodness. Rewatch worthy!

Hannah and Her Sisters - 7.8/10
A very well done movie from woody allen.

The Sandlot - 7.6/10
Should have seen this a lot earlier. Same genre as The Goonies, where kids take center stage and life revolves around their escapades. Was a fun movie with a bit of baseball thrown in.

American Graffiti - 7.6/10
Pretty much along the lines of Dazed and Confused. Cult american movie, decent one time watch.
