Haha.. Funny isn't? Do you know false signal strength report?

Last i remember, Benchmark does not in anyway mean Signal strength. Where are you getting the info that signal strength means benchmark score ? Please clarify, i am all ears.
We are talking about benchmark scores here, please stick to that. Peace.

Btw i am editing earlier post. Check again.

I guess thats what smnrock is referring to. Yes its for you. Is there any truth to it ?

Have always suspected that metal cases are not as good for any signal reception. Plastic is best.

For a phone, reception is primary, i don't want to stand on my head to take a call :)

Yeah, we are talking about all Androids are cheat and shamsung... All this because 10% artificial increase of so called benchmark. In the same line, apple is no saint... In fact apple is the fore father for this kind of cheats :)

With metal case you mean the casing in which the phone comes or something that we use ourselves (aftermarket case) ?
If it is internal antenna then personally i have never faced any issue with reception on my iPhone ever but then in most cases i am in areas where the reception is decent.

It's totally a nuisance saying 'metallic built' phones are bad for reception. In fact, my X1 was one of the best receptive phone (next is BB Bold) I have used. Used lots of other metal phones as well, like W995, they all had as fine reception as garbage plastic phones.
Now one can prefer plastic over metal, but then that person has to pick a different subject than reception to account for that preference.

The metal body the phone comes in. Not after market.

Point was which fares better in terms of reception. And by better how better.

It requires a comparison with a non-metal body phone. But i guess that will be hard to show since the chips used will be different. The vendor can always crank up the power, which has a negative effect on battery life.

i know its going OT, but for the record if you are referrring X1i of SE, then i do not agree. Its signal reception is just average and its my last SE phone after using all the UIQ P series phone.
Now one can prefer plastic over metal,
but samsung sales record + profit shows something else :)

@blr_p: You can't prove anything with just three videos mate. I can find lots of video where it'll say the opposite. It's like those meaningless benchmark tests, they prove nothing. Before buying the S4 I saw some videos where S4 survived lots of drop tests, then you'll see topic like this,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2287882
I hate plastic, there are no words with which I can express how much, but that doesn't mean I will give up some cool Samsung features and some hardware for metal, was so close to buying the One, still like it though. Samsung or any brands will move from plastic to metal in near future anyway, so nothing too much to worry about.

Cannot defintively prove that N3 will survive any drop test. Can say out of 3 tests it survived 2.

S4, when tested by all three of the above reviewers did not survive a single drop test. The face down drop kills nearly every phone. So, to see the N3 survive like this in 2 out of 3 is amazing. In a drop test of n3 vs s4, the n3 is more likely to survive. The n3 is more durable than the s4. I don't know how samsung pulled this off but its an achievement.

Why you guys make such a big deal about plastic amuses me. It is the easiest to repair out of anything out there, its the cheapest to repair. Anybody can repair a plastic phone. Back cover damaged, replaced for cheap. All you need is a bumper and a screen protector to keep this phone in good shape.

Who cares whether others think your phone looks good or not, how well does your phone work for you is what matters.

Benchmarks on mobile phones are so useless yet every review site wants to include them so that every self confessed geek stays happy. The only benchmark that truly matters with phones is battery life. These processing benchmarks rarely translate to real world performance and till we start encoding videos and other processor intensive tasks they should just be banned :p

Benchmarks aside this phone is pretty expensive. My purchase of the Original Note within a few weeks of the launch at 28,500 seems like a steal. Too bad it's finally beginning to show it's age even with newer ROMS.

@dafreaking, even the battery benchmarks depends on many things ex. the user usage in various conditions and network coverage (3G, WiFi). It's like the bike companies announcing the Milege / Per lt. and then says *Under standard conditions.

I personally feel there is no proper way of estimating battery life per charge. It is highly subjective and depends on the usage of the device by the person.
So always the battery life claimed should be taken with a heap of salt.

what do you make of screen on times as indicator of battery life ?

It is generally a good indicator. However using a CDMA phone I have found that signal strength is also very important for battery life. I have seen my phone lose more than half it's battery in under an hour because I was in an area with no signal and it kept searching for it
