2) The auto rotate has a mood of its own , rotates at least expected instances , especially when I unlock the phone by dragging the message button the phone usually unlocks in landscape mode , no matter where I position my hands. ' Landscape' will be my neck's default position in sometime.

That never happened to me!

I use Zeam launcher.

3) 5mp camera is just a result of Megapixel marketing , I have seen 3.2 take better pictures.

the pics in natural light are strictly OK and in Dark is highly pixelated. I will use some apps for camera and see if it makes a difference .

Agreed. But pics look fine to me. So I'd say its subjective. However, Dell XCD35's 3.2 MP camera is absolutely pathetic compared to this.

4) Battery life on the 4th day of usage is 16 hours at max with moderate use of everything, Free Radical has given us hope ...but on this day Id say 16 hours is less.

:ashamed:

5) This one is a worry more than a shortcoming, the phone actually heats up a quite a bit with normal operations and to an extent when on GPS.

Yep. That may be an issue. Especially on Froyo.

I am trying GB now. So far so good.

Lets see how it turns out.

Btw, another beta Gingerbread firmware, this time from CSL-Spice has been leaked.

6) No noise cancellation or filtering of any sort when on speaker, hence a lot of things speak along with me eg, train/ tv/ street hawkers etc etc ;) , when I put the other person on speaker phone.

The MI-410 has a dual mic with noise cancellation!

The hole adjacent to the flash led is the noise cancellation mic.

I had hit a quadrant of 2200+ but didn't have a screenie app installed.

This is stock rooted gingerbread with most of my apps and services running in the background.

Well Congrats Dude ;)

It's Supposed To Have

2 GB Onboard Storage

512 MB RAM

As soon as we have a custom recovery, partition layouts can be experimented upon and we'll know more.

Even most Dell XCD35s had the ram locked to 256MB which could be unlocked to 414MB and the data partition could be increased to 315Mb from the stock 200MB after reducing the cache partition to 2MB and the system partition to 135MB.

But even so, I bet some amount of cost cutting did go into this.

I have a problem whenever i open any applications like file browser email etc it opens in landscape mode why ? is there any solution for that ?

Settings > Display settings > Auto-rotate screen. (make sure it is ticked)

If this doesn't work, install the freeware app Androsens from the market and check whether the orientation sensor is working.

I am a Happy Owner of Spice Mi-410.

I have some doubts:

Is there any risk involved in Upgrading to Android 2.3.

If I upgrade using one Micro SD card , can I change the card later. Does the OS files saved on Micro SD card or on Phone?

After Upgrading can I still take 720p HD Videos?

Will the upgrade Viod my warranty from Spice.

When in doubt, prepare for the worst and hope for the best :D

Consider your warranty void if you upgrade to unofficial GB 2.3.4.

Although a beta *untested* rom dump for original Spice Mi-410 is available now in case you want to revert back and reclaim warranty.

Thank you for your help Free Radical

any answers for this

Micro SD card has nothing to do with the OS files mate. They're only used to flash to the phone and then it resides within the phone ROM. You can change/remove micro sd card anytime after that, no problem.

No root method was working until Free Radical at E RODOV found a way. You will need a working linux distro with Nautilus to accomplish this root method.

Congrats FR,you are getting famous in the android world :hap2:

im tempted to buy this phone...i liked the functionality given with this phone, which other phones are present in competition with this phone

will spice roll out a update gingerbread(2.3) for this phone, and last of all this phone can provide 720p video recording, can a faster sd card probably class 10 could smoothen some what jerkiness of recording?

or this is some hardware fault..?
