@lordnemesis - People of every country are programmed to do that same, evading taxes is not the same as corruption. Lets not lose the bigger picture here of blatant and harmful corruption to the point of making life miserable.
See, that is exactly the problem here. People in our country don't even have a clear understanding of what constitutes corruption. The only sure thing for them is that what ever they indulge in is not corruption, if somebody else is doing the same thing at a larger scale (or sometimes even if its same or smaller scale as long as somebody else is doing it) then it is called corruption.
For instance, if a hundred or two hundred politicians take bribes or swipe a few hundred crore govt money and put them into a swiss account, people call it corruption, but when only 2% of the population pays taxes and many of them don't even pay fully and the population at large are collectively responsible for tax evasion in such scale that the all the illegitimate money of the politicians in swiss accounts put together would still pale in comparison, its still not corruption, its just plain old harmless tax evasion which "people are programmed to do". Doesn't it occur that politicians are the same people who are doing what the people are as you say programmed to do?
People also tend to focus on only one aspect of corruption which is govt or political corruption which although destructive is nothing compared to the destructiveness of the corruption of the common people at large. I think you are loosing the bigger picture by just focusing on just one type of corruption and not the corruption at large which happens to be responsible for the one type of corruption you are talking about as well.
Corruption simply put is moral decay. It comes in many forms and it does not always have something to do with money either. It can be abuse of power regardless of which level. Who are responsible for giving corrupt politicians their power just because they happen to belong to their caste, religion, region or because they gave money, booze or gifts or because they promised subsidies or other benefits when they come into power? The very political and govt corruption you are talking about is also the result of the corruption at large of the population. Every product of this moral decay of the population is responsible for the current plight of the country.
Do you think people who takes/gives bribes/evade taxes to their capacity whether in hundered's, thousands or lakh's or abuse the power they have would not take advantage of the situation when they have access to crores of rupees or when they have more power?. Politicians are just convenient scrape goats, but at the end of the day, they just happen to be also part of this morally decayed population of the country who just happen to have access to lot more power and money than the rest.
AAP asked people in Delhi to stop paying electricity bills despite using the service and when connections were cut, their workers helped the people in many places in tapping the lines or transformers directly and leech electricity for free and they encouraged this. If think voting in such a party would change any thing, be my guest, but sorry, if I am skeptical about the ability of a party and its supporters with such loose morals bringing in any change for the good.
May be some politicians would be persecuted over their wrong doing and new ones (who may be even worse) may take their place. but that's just an after-math of people looking for revenge on those they assume to be their tormentors, not real change.
