The Definitive Nokia 5800XM Thread!!!

An update on my 5800 display problem:

I finally gave my 5800 to Nokia care for repairs. They said I will get it back in 8-12 days as it has to be sent to HO !

By the way, there is one very strange aspect to this problem. This has been reported on many sites worldwide & I can confirm it that this problem happens only in cold conditions. Whenever I am in office sitting under an AC, the display goes for a toss. The minute I leave my office, the display used to start working fine.

In fact I had a problem demonstrating the problem to the guy at Nokia care. I could not reproduce the problem in front of him since there was no AC there. It worked perfectly but then I kept my phone in front of a cooler and immediately the problem reappeared.

Anyways, waiting for my dear 5800 to come back. 2 days gone ....many more to go :(

got my 5800 yesterday. love it. how do i enable GPS. When i try to find my location, its unable to. how do i go about it.

love exploring the phone otherwise. camera is lousy

You have to be outdoors for the GPS receiver to pick up a signal. Be patient, it sometimes takes up to 10 minutes to find your position especially if you are not using GPRS.
 
Hey guys, i purchased a New 5800 today from Nokia Concept Store in Bangalore :)

Phone came with V21 Firmware. I have updated it to v30.

What software are you using for converting videos to your phone? i read a thread abt media encoder in this forum but unfortunately, i am getting some error when i try to convert any video.
 
Did you try loading the preset settings to the mediacoder as mentioned. What kind of file you are trying to convert.

If the error is still there, let me know. May be I can help you out.

just got my 5800xm updated to v30 at nokia care center ghatkopar , updated within 15mins but the tech person opened the cell before updating ,to check any internal damage and 2-3 dust particles got in between the screen and the panel , the person didnt even clean the screen wtf . this dust particles really irritates me , is there any way to clean the screen safely at home?

done that a couple of times to clean the irritating dust particles :mad: ..and its easy......
