The Definitive Nokia 5800XM Thread!!!

Guys, can anyone tell me if a screen guard is really necessary to be used with this phone? :S My phone is coming in few days so just want to keep it ready if it's needed.

I'm asking this because my chinese iphone clone has a very poor touch screen and I always have to tap with my nail to use it, still after 5 months of usage there are no scratches on the screen. Is it the same case with 5800?

Is there any shop in mumbai where I can get this combo: 5800+Sennheiser PMX60 for 13450/-
I asked a nearby shop they said it's 14.2k without headphones as that offer was only for diwali :(.

I asked Kings electronics in Nerul, Navi Mumbai and if I remember correctly, they quoted me 13.6k with Sennheiser PMX60. I'm not 100% sure though, as I asked a dozen shops for quotes.

However, the best option is to buy it from ebay. You can also ask in Alfa.

The most essential app is HellOX2, once you hack your mobile you can install n number unsigned apps. For music i recommend TTPod as it is free version, LCG Jukebox and for watching videos, you can try smartmovie for avi MP4 files. For Web Opera, Nimbuzz, fring, youtube.

Right, thanks.

This is probably a stupid question. The display on my phone is a bit .... weird. Its like there is a screenguard on the screen already or a protective plastic layer above the touchscreen, you know how if you put a cheap screenguard on it you can see very, very, VERY small dots on the display (not air bubbles but just dots). The display isnt crystal clear as it should be. Thats what it looks like. Its hard to explain better than that if that makes any sense. Whats the deal with that?

Dude Its nokia cover which you have to remove it and stick your own screen guard.[Get cheap one @ 50 bucks on road or branded one from scratchguard cmpy for 350 bucks)

Anyone know any good sites for free apps, games and themes for the 5800?

@m47r1m: You can take the phone to any Nokia dealer and they will change the screenguard for you.

I got mine done at Binary Systems, Trivandrum, where I bought the phone. It took 15 minutes.

The ones I got cost Rs. 150/- each, called Professional Screenguard.

A small update on my phone.......my phone 'still' has the screen problem. And I have been surviving on the white theme since the day the problem started. However, the problem has now got worst and the phone doesnt unlock when wanted / reboots automatically and the screen has a dark patch (very blur though) right in the center and also the screen flickers like a tube thats running on a blown starter and the phone just went out of warranty. But guess what I have the 2nd year extended dealer warranty where they take full responsibility of the phone , fix / replace whatever.

My motive of posting this is to just tell you peeps that getting an option to extend the warranty although dealer warranty its worth it. This will be my 1st experience with an out of country dealership for their support over a product. Lets see how it goes. Will update as and when that happens.
