^^ Yes you can , there is a standalone version of the official skype client (called skype lite) also available
 
I am not able to connect to internet using my 5230.. I am on vodafone, bangalore..and installed the gprs settings by sending an SMS..but, not working..

can someone put the setting info here pls?

If yes then i hope they have solved the restarting issue. Also is there any change log available for this update ?
Btw any link ?? I tried from the phone itself and it did not list the said firmware :S
 
Which branded screen guard should i use with my 5233 so as to protect it from scratching ??? the one at ebay i.e, Screen Ward is any good ???? Please advise.

this might sound a stupid question but can someone tell me if the screen guard (i don't know if it is a screen guard at all) that comes installed with the phone is any good or shall i change it with other screen protectors avaliable on ebay ????
 
the new firmware mentioned above is available.my pc suite shows it is available.it is a 118 mb dowload.i connected my phone to pc when it started dowloading.when i came back after a few hours i got a error message that firmware not updated.i have a edge gprs connection usb.the software updater on the phone shows no update.so guys please tell me if nokia care or priority dealers will do this firmware upgrade for me.my phone is i warranty period.please help guys as i have read that this upgrade gives noticeable improvemnet in user interface speed.

Take it to the Nokia priority center or a friend with a decent net connection and try updating there.:)
 
Guys i tried with the in-phone software update thing and it did not show me anything for the 5230. So does it really exist (a new firmware)??

The current firmware version v12.0.089 i guess is really screwed up it seems and i am facing issues while messaging, the phone just restarts and i lose my currently open message which is the most painful thing. :(

hmmm something is missing somewhere . some people are having the update but many not including me , no problem in y phone till now ,working smoothly with my airtelgprs
just 1 minor wish from my side in new firmware , my battery goes down to 1 by the day end though i know i use net all day for my stocks and fring to call and talk all day , will again check for new firmware today
 
Is it just me or the speaker sound is really low ? I'm afraid that i might miss a few calls while in public places. :(
