sheesh guys am not able to take a backup in the first place..

I think my ca 101 cable is to blame here,slight shift of it causes loss of connection to pc suite..

I'll have to wait a month,ill get it done using my dad's 500gb wd external hdd's ca 101 cable..

Till then nothing new :(
 
I got myself a Nokia 5233 too!!! :D :D

Ok so I need so help. I transferred my contacts, calendar, messages and notes from my N73 to 5233. Contacts and calendar are fine.

However, messages from only my inbox have been transferred to my 5233. I have tons of messages stored in a few folders under My folders in my N73, but it none of those messages are transferred to the new phone. :(

Also with notes, all of my notes are transferred, but the time and date of the note is the time of synchronization and not the time of when the note was actually made. :( I want it to have the same time/date as well.

I first used Nokia PC suite and then tried with Ovi suite a s well. Both do the same. Would syncing to an external application and then copying it over to 5233 help? I'll try that out and see.

Oh and btw, I thought that the data cable was not a part of the package? I got a short micro usb data cable in my box. :D
 
yeah its part of 5233 not the 5230..

sync works perfectly for me(i.e it used too until my cable stopped working,it was cheapo rs 150 cable),try a firmware update and then try to sync them
 
Hmmm. Did you transfer stuff from an older phone? I'm sure I won't have problems if I'm restoring from a backup of 5233 itself. But I'm having problems while transferring from N73 to 5233. I tried direct sync from phone to phone as well.

Also moving messages from my folder to inbox, syncing and then moving back to folders is not an option because there are too many messages.

I have an idea that I'll try in the evening. It should work. :D

I love the Facebook app. Only thing is it doesn't show notifications. Hope an updated version with notifications comes out soon.

My phone came with the latest firmware (April 2010 manufacturing date).

I have a couple of issues.

The battery life really sucks. :( The first day I used it quite extensively and since it was new, it lasted a little below 24 hours. I thought that was ok. But last couple of days the battery is hardly lasting for 20-22 hours. :( Someone here posted that his battery life has reduced with the new firmware. Has anyone else on the new firmware observed the same? Since my phone came with latest firmware, I couldn't compare.

Do any of you face problems with Opera mobile 10? Sometimes it closes while loading a page. It even hanged my phone a few times, I had to remove the battery and restart.

EDIT: Hmmm, it seems it was the previous firmware that someone had battery life problem. A couple of guys already mentioned battery life is decent in the new firmware. :P I'll use it for a few days and check.

Opera Mini is a java based app while Opera Mobile is a symbian app. Moreover opera mobile from start has had more features than opera mini (due to better utilization of available resources and also being symbian app) but now opera mini too i catching up with opera mini 5 supporting tabbed browsing and download manager (not really but sort of).

I myself use opera mini to surf on my 5230 as i feel it renders pages faster compared to opera mobile (IMO). But opera mini 4 does not support flash (not sure if 5 supports or not) but opera mobile does.

A weird query:
Is there any way i can play farmville on facebook on my 5230. Dont pawnn be saying it is stupid game and all :P'

^That was the first thing I did when I got my phone. :P I find it irritating. I would like to disable the vibrations while locking/unlocking the screen too.

I guess, if not lots, atleast a considerable amount of TE'ites are proud owners of 5230/5233. Its the third day on my 5233 and am enjoyin all the features it can throw at me. I am yet to hack it though. Anyways i was wondering what are the 3 best apps or games that is really getting you hooked onto the cell. Myself, I am hooked onto the games the latest s60 offers. My favs so far are:

GT racing
Raging thunder
and now playing around with some cool themes. Also trying to access google maps.
 
forget all these casings and all, i today got myself a scratch guard named 'Scratch Ward'...its great and costs Rs.150, also for a good casing goto any local small shop as them for 5233 pouch, new ones just for the handset came to the market..costs Rs.100...specially made for 5233 and 5230 as the cam cut is exactly the same size and not double like in 5800.
