I have corsair vx 550 now as it's more than enough to power my current rig.I'm thinking of overhauling the whole rig by core i5 2500k + p67 mobo & another gtx460 to make it sli in 3-4 months time, so which psu to opt for this upgrade. My second option is to trade my current psu right now to a higher wattage psu as the upgrade is definitely going to happen & get more value for vx 550.TIA:-)
Sell the VX550 for 3.2 to 3.5k... add 3k more and buy Corsair TX850 V2 ~ 6800 from mediahome...

Gs600 is rated at 40 deg.cel :)

reply from one of corsair representatives on Jonny guru

"The GS series is basically a step below the TX series, 40C rated instead of 50C rated, 80 Plus white, as opposed to the newer TX unit (the TX950) which is Bronze rated, etc.

It's basically designed to be a lower cost unit that is still very stable but targeted at retail/gamer customers. Anybody who's heard of JonnyGuru.com is probably not the customer for the GS units.

Right now there is only one wattage, the 600W, which will be very attractive from a price standpoint, but will still meet all ATX specs, unlike most other products in its price range."

Rated @specified wattage at a temprature of 30 degree Celsius (instead of 45 standard).

Maybe you are confused between CX600 and GS600, since CX600 is the one rated at 30deg.cel

Its time to bid CM PSU a goodbye( Sold it off locally). Budget is around 6K. May push it a little more if its a steal.
Initiated my purchases for BD upgrade. Need more wattage. Anything above 650W.
Prefer brands like Corsair and XFX. Got a local offer for Corsair GS800 at 6K. How is the PSU.
Other alternatives in mind are
Corsair TX650 V2 CMPSU-650TXV2
Corsair TX750W CMPSU-750TX
SeaSonic SS-750JS 750W 80 PLUS
Any other recommendations please. Kinda urgent.

^ Considering shipping and Octroi it will workout around 7K. But I will be running a Single GPU configuration. I would prefer having not more than 650W. Could you mention which are the cities you get at this price. Would be very helpful.

Guys, for any SINGLE GPU setup, a 450W - 550W is more than enough. But a higher wattage PSU only if you need to go for a dual GPU or are into sub zero benching. Most of us will never go for a dual GPU solution and would rather just update the GPU as and when a newer model comes out. My setup, with water cooling and a single 5850 with everything overclocked does not pull more than 280-300 W.

I know that. I am keeping more room because I might use a Nvidia card for Physx something like GTS250 or some green cards. Does the TX650V2 and HX650 hardly makes sense but for Modular and a silver certified. Does Modular in HX650 makes sense because there is only two 6+2 pin for GPU. Only thing you can save in terms of cable management is that SATA cables and MOLEX connectors would be left out.

Is it really worth spending another 1K on such features? I guess the internals on both are from Seasonic?

Your words...

Its a steal thats why i suggested it... And Its Anyday better than the GS800 that you mentioned above... And its always good to buy a PSU with little more headroom... And in most 650 watts PSUs you would get two PCI-E power connectors only... 750 and above watts PSUs comes with Four PCI-E connectors...

I have corsair cx430 psu but it has given me few problems, need to replace cx430 with another psu which is better.please reply quick need to replace it quickly, budget is 2.7k

@thegatekeeper

Are you sure that OCZ ModXSTream Pro 500w PSU doesn't cost more than 2.7k?

And which dealer did give you a quote of 2.7k for that PSU?

No,2.7k is an estimation,i thought there would be better psu than cx430 under 2.7k.If its going above that then i will think about it.

^^ Best bet try to land a Corsair CX 400W ~ 2500/- OR FSP Saga II 500W ~ 2500/-, both are readily available, have a reliable A.S.S. team behind them and have a good response in the Indian market.

The OCZ ModXStream Pro looks good but if it conks off or turns out to be a bad piece then you're in a soup.

Antec will be way more expensive than either of these options, from experience.
