@faheem : from wahat i have gathered till now, you did not give full descriptions just the initial stages of your itch fo better music.i mean no re-0 :O . and the blog thing would be great. will give suggestions if i think of something.

@anubhav : This CK10 hype... TF10 for you is a lot better than CK10 at any price. As time to time, you have been warned, if you get CK10/100 YOU WILL FIND THEM BASS LIGHT!!Their bass is very good but very-very quick. SM3 is different matter.

and yeah as santosh mentioned this will be your first BA. so don not get a lightning quick one like the CK10 so you cant even feel the bass. BAs are already a lot faster than dynamic IEMs

@super: wooaudio 6 :O , why did you sell that.! ? (assuming you did not donate.)

@ Benny , if getting tf10 remolded. one should always look for a tf10 that has been used very badly and damaged wires here and there / without wires....that way it will be cheaper :P . rposting a WTB thread there will surely get you that type of TF10.

If your getting your tf10's remolded bro you will anyways buy a new westone cable rather than UE cable. So whether its a badly damaged cable or a brand new cable it doesn't make a difference. And remolding the Tf10 is for people who already own a TF10 and have already tried out their sound sig. If one has to pay 10k to buy a used TF10 and then spend 13k more to remold them its ridiculous cuz you can get a brand new JH5pro like Superfrag did for that much.

If your suggesting buying an iem which has badly damaged cables just cuz its cheaper, god knows what else would be damaged. Maybe one of the drivers is also damaged. If a person uses their iem badly, it just wont JUST be the cables that would be affected now would it? ;)
You will end up paying for the shipping to UM, UM will return it saying its damaged, then you end up losing the postage charges + end up with a damaged TF10. Its a risky thing Strategy, bad advice I must say.

Between UM and Fisher Audio US is there any difference in remolding procedure / quality of shells and sound ? All this considering a TF10 remold . Also what are their different pricing ? Fisher Ive heard costs only 80$ . Local audiologist fees would be ~500-1000 max. Shipping to US ~700-1200 via reliable courier. I hope the 80$ fees includes return shipping atleast :P Whats the price of UM for the same ?

^ yeah that might be the case, ....but i doubt drivers go bad this easily ..i mean if they have not been crushed or drowned ..how can the driver go bad.? .

also i am talking about the ones that are sold as

" normally R works ...if i exchange the channel cables then L works...so i guess its a cable problem"

or

" when i insert hold the cable in the 2pin jack on the IEM housing it works great ...so the problem must be the connectors on the housing geting lose"

and i think that type of TF10's can be grabbed at very good price like say $80-100! . + 7K for remolding (amarbir ..) you get a custom TF10 for 12K !!

JUST ask the seller, and a trust senior seller only with good feedback. its not that anubhav is in a hurry.

@anubhav...got a cure for your itch. Want to hear ?

@ strategy - Really !!!!! temme temme , Excited to hear what u got ???

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

I am very much relaxed now , 252's actually won my heart .

Now i am reading detailed reviews of IEM's i have narrowed down to .

and also side by side finding deals for the same .

santosh and i keep having a word on gmail , he expresses his views , i express mine's .

So , hopefully this time i will spend on the right product .

One question - Should i add a E7 for a start with portable amps , to my 252's with fuze , as even at full volume , i find the output to be a lil low . Actually my ears are used to loud music of my Z5500 and nite-clubs :0

by amp i dont mean , i am looking to add thump to 252's , just a louder and cleaner output . Also will buy a line out cable for Fuze .

Wanna ask ,what all will E7 improve ? and do i really need it ?? also , any other portables in the same price range , Remember it will be my first amp .

At my desktop i have a Audigy2 ZS and Z5500 for over 3 years now .

Either your fuze volume setting is set to low or you will go deaf soon. Dont make it sooner by buying an amp ;)
really ?? but fuze voume is turned to max , even when rockboxed , it's max to 6th level , icon glows all red .

I m serious , am i used to very much loud listening ??

In short, yes! RE-252 is one of those rare IEMs you can use for low volume listening easily. I've used it out of Rockboxed Clip+ at -28 to -31dB (out of -88 to +6, 63-65% approx).

So for testing my own levels, I am now listening out of Fuze (unamped) right now. For me, -16 is where it starts to get a bit too loud. I can go down to -21 for background listening and about -18 is enough for me. Noisy environments are a different story though.

^ Yes! The main volume. Is there any other volume? :S

I tried again, the max I can hit is -12, where it starts to becoming a bit tooo much. Even if I start at that level, I end up going back to -17 / -18.

it sounds impossible !

at -12 is like pretty low for me .

i listen it always on +6db , beyond that there is no level :(

i have a perfect listening , i hear even the minute hiss or shhh sound even 5 mtrs away . (of course in a silent environment )

then whats wrong with this FUZE ?? Fuze faulty or my ears ??

@haraakiri / anybody

Won't Rockbox override the OF's "High Volume / Low Volume" region setting?

@anubhav,

May be your Fuze has an issue or your brain is just used to listening at louder volumes. Can't say which. Do you have any other players? Do you listen to them at max volume as well?

I even have a creative zen stone with me , also a CLIP+ earlier than fuze , both i used to listen at loudest volume . no matter whatever IEM i used till date .

anubhav: man, i suggest lowering the volume.

@all: a friend of mine if going to US. How much would SM3, DDM cost? What other non-custom IEMs (universals) are in top tier with laid back highs, prominent mids, prominent, textured bass & subbass?

+6db is pretty loud on a rockboxed Fuze + RE-252. I cant handle something as low as -16dB like Santosh but usually used to listen at -5 or -3 dB. In rare cases or during travel in crowded local trains it would go upto +2dB.

:O ....:(
WTH !

there must be a volume limiter as there is in the ipods, look in audio settings.

Seriously anubhav if you are really listening to this high volume .. STOP. seriously. go to a doctor and get your ears checked. this is alarming.

i as going to suggest extreme gaming and some suicide advice for your itch as a joke but seriously you are already killing your ears. :(

If in US get SM3 from soundearphones they have it at 379 shipped + you can have 15% discount(no limit!!) also Enter code "HF15" (valid till 30th november) ..you will get $55 discount !!!...great

but SM3 do not have laidback highs. FX700/re262 is more suited..latter has more emphasis on mids , while former has more emphasis on bass..take your pick.( FX700 highs are smooth, RE262 highs are um.. laidback and somewhat less detailed...will tell you more when they are here)

^ If i get SM3, will i also need to get amps/dac/etc or will my SFlo2 bring the best out of SM3? Coz if sflo2 by itself cannot make SM3 shine, then i will not buy it.

You Guys have really scared me . But its since very beginning that i am used to max volume listening in IEM's although my normal routine listening is absolutely perfect .

I am a lil worried as of now . :(

^ it will remain perfect for now ..but the damage can be longterm .. especially when you start approaching old age .

we are not saying you are deaf (we are writing :P )

All we are saying, you should try listening at the least possible volume.

My new suggestion to you now is, buy an IEM with bestofthebest bass+treble+mids+soundstage..say, SM3/MTPcopper/FX700/HD800/LCD2/bayerdynamicT1 ....and listen at least volume...ears are more important than money :(

SM3 are very sensitive, a little warm, sflo shoud do good with SM3.many people use it direclly with sansa players ( very neutral source) . look in the Head-fi sm3 thread though, weather the warm sig of Sflo suits SM3 or not.
