Yes thats quite normal drivers are all built in windows 7 the only thing abnormal you did was you installed a SPECIAL version which we dont have. Build 5057*:clap: you now have build 7100 RC1 use that or upgarde to that.

Download the 7100 RC1 iso , extract the iso files with winrar & run the setup file in windows explorer, it will give you the option of fresh install or upgrade.

A few Observations after installing both x64 and x86 versions of the RC.

x64:

Changing the Maximum Memory in Advanced Boot Options makes the OS to use only 3.25GB RAM which should be exactly how much i assign not 3.25GB.
Somehow, keeping the Maximum memory option checked makes the OS feel as if it was 32bit.

This was the only issue faced in x64 but this was the biggest for me since i could not use my Hauppage PVR-150 card with Windows 7 :(

x32:

Norton 2009 is incompatible with Windows 7. Does start at first, then after a few live updates will say it does not start.
And this is all over Google as well.

TuneUp Utilities 2008 is incompatible.

Riva Tuner does not work coz of the WDDM 1.1 architecture of NVIDIA drivers.

@Alsi
Remember, earlier there was tis problem i had cited of the size of WMP12 not being constant and keeps changing with the video size.
Earlier in BETA, it had worked in x64 RC it works fine.
But in x86, bam it doesn't.

Now, the good part, apart from these issues, everything is lightning fast in Windows 7.
x64 is better than x86 as far as i saw, since there are very few issues in x64 version and Full HD with CoreAVC works better here than in x86.

OK just installed on my tablet PC and played with speech recognition. Really nifty toy! I think this and touch/multitouch could be the best two features of Win7 huh? Linux beware! :D

So I ran the speech tutorial which guides you through its workings. I think its a bit of a scam since it seemed a little TOO accurate heh. In the conclusion page they even mention this technology is cutting edge and might not work all the time and can cause you frustration :)

Operating the PC via speech during the tutorial felt like being on the starship enterprise or something! Yea it sounds corny/cheesy and even though I've been using speech recognition many years before those you had to speak real slow here you speak more normally although if you go a little too fast it gets confused...

But it is still unstable, could not actually start the proper speech recognition - it hangs for a long time. Starting the voice training module starts up but doesnt seem to detect any speech which is strange after seeing the smooth accuracy of the tutorial part.

But I'm still installing windows updates which includes audio drivers to lets see if any improvement after a reboot in case its hardware/driver issues...

Good stuff indeed!

@abhi
i have just come back to my hometown for the summer hols. Installed x64, don't have x86. Will take a look at the WMP bug you are facing. You face that problem even after making the setting change?

Using build 7057 as primary and only OS. Microsoft learnt a lot with its bhista failure! I am loving it, no XP installed as of now.

Yes buddy. But the problem does not exist in x64, only in x86.

Try out the other problem dat i have said. It seems to be a bug in msconfig. :)

is anyone facing issue of choppy windows transition while closing and maximizing windows ? :ashamed:

^^Nope. It's fine here. Update your gfx drivers if you have one.

I have a problem though. I don't have firefox or any other app running in the background, but as my download manager for RS links i'm using jDownloader. Me thinks Java is not well optimized for Win 7 for now because ram usage over a period of time goes insanely as high as 93% (i have a 4gb ram)!!

Whereas in Vista the max i've seen to date was 55% with FF and many other apps running.

Can you anyone help me?

Installed yesterday.

Running smooth as of now.

Steam/CnC Generals refused to run at first.

Ran when i set 'em to WinXP3 compatibility mode.

abhi: Can you post the output of bcdedit?

Just run bcdedit from an elevated command prompt.

I am in office and also my home PC has Windows 7 x86 now.

Will install Windows 7 x64 in the evening and post the dumps here...:)

Edit:
Today half of the headache was for installing my new exhaust fan, so will be doing this 2morrow. :)

ati drivers are latest from there site itself for win7..still it closes choppy :(

The windows opening and closing is a little choppy at the start and when closing - a hiccup to be specific. :P
Even i am on the latest driver, still it's existent.

^^ yes same here...i first tried ahem version, but then downloaded and installed official version too but same problem, i am pretty sure its display driver issue

Installed myself yesterday. Gave usual trouble with 4GB RAM. so had to reinstall with 2GB and add the 2nd stick later. As such i am loving it till now :). Much smoother etc.
