BSNL EVDO - have some queries about speed and charges

@varkey YGPM, can we flash this one using the same tool we used for 595u. I believe i read in some of the posts by kuduku that it was possible and hayabusa did it.

It is better to convert the base plan to EVDO General and go the STV way as you have better control. As you can activate the plan whenever you like it. There are 15 day, 7 day, 1 day plans as well.

How can I find out which plan has been activated on my connection?
When I dial *123#, it shows EVDO Unlimited after stating my balance and plan validity.

By the way, I think that the Rs.20 BSNLSpecial recharge that I performed from ezrecharge.in did not work. I checked my balance today. Seems that Rs.20 has been added to my balance.
How did you know that the Rs.20 recharge was sucessful?

So for me, the plan and recharge status etc are shown there.

Did you select the operator as "BSNL Special" when you recharged from ezRecharge.in?

I am positive that I selected BSNL Special.
Other than this portal, is there any way to know by dialling *123# ?
And after recharging with RS.20, did your balance increase?
 
^ I never really tried the *123# method, but it should be the same eitherway.

No, balance didn't increase, only the validity.

If I go to a shop and want to do the Rs.20 special recharge, what should I ask the shopkeeper to do? STV or Recharge or C-TopUp?

No need to get from US, @varkey has one 598U available for sale,it will be less hassle if you buy directly from him, will save u shipping time and costs. Just get in touch with him.

I need it for normal usage. Don't need a Wifi router, etc. Just to connect with my laptop. I'm not too sure about distance from the tower, is here any way I can check this?

ask bsnl to give a demo and than decline due to bad speeds . buy from @varkey you will get a fully ready device , no need of even configuring . Ask @varkey he willconfigure it when you buy from him

agree with @kuduku, if possible ask for a demo and see the signals at your place. Worse case scenario, you can buy a prepaid sim and put it in a cdma mobile to check the signals levels in your area. I did it the same way, as demo option was not available for my location.

Any idea why is it saying user name & password bad program/parameter ? Shall i erase every thing & write that data from beginning ?
Can some one plz upload ESN unlocking software>? my modem is sierra 595u
 
To me it looks fine, it says device unlocked, for the items it is saying Bad program and parameter are those which it can't read and does not have access to.

What are you trying to do exactly, if you specify then probably we can guide you in the right direction.
 
hey guys i bought prepaid evdo datacard last month @ 959/-.. they provided prithvi modem with 399Rs. balance.

i have recharged it with Rs.20 to increase validity to 6 months using paytm.

how to activate unlimited plan for prepaid evdo? i'm not sure if 1 month unlimited plan is priced 750/- or 825/- :O

should i just recharge it with 750/825 using paytm ? some people suggested me to stay away from paytm
