I finally was able to get into system properties long enough to turn off system restore but it still came back. gave up on it and did a windows repair even though i will have to reinstall some software. no worries, no data is on that drive anyway.

Got it, i realized the fat32 limit after thinking more about it. i found out afterwards that WD datalifeguards program that came with drive lets you format and copy boot drive to your new drive in one sweep. SWEEEEEET! i guess this was an uneeded post but maybe it will help another wondering...

Coolers on the market are highly over rated crap not worhty of the money wasted on them. Easy is right. Unless you use refrigeration you won't get below room temp. However if you take your side cover off and have a small house fan blowing at an angle on your drives you can get within 3 or 4...
