Anybody experienced 5G network?

Very good

Your 5G is on band B3 which is 1,800 Mhz. Airtel is using B3 for 5G :wideyed: Oh Happy days

Course, nothing like a 3-digit frequency but can't have that just yet.

Your 4G is on band B40 which is the regular 2,300 Mhz

You will get better signal strength indoors on 5G than 4G, which means faster speed if available. Even if it isn't you get better penetration on B3 than on B40.

Now, using a lower frequency should translate into battery savings but due to the NSA the phone has to switch between two frequencies instead of sticking to just one.

So the battery will go down faster if you use voice on 5G compared to VoLTE on 4G otherwise just data on 5G will be better than 4G.

Why don't you test it? Record the battery % at the start, then leave the phone alone for at least 6 hours on 5G and how much battery went down. No touching.

Do the same with the phone on 4G only.

What is the difference? without voice, I think 5G will do better. But with voice 4G will be more efficient.

There is a fallback to 4G for voice, now that 4G can support voice as they used to fallback to 3G when 4G came out.

I anticipate a battery hit due to NSA with voice on 5G but not with 4G provided itis VoLTE which most phones from the last 3-4 years are these days.

I guess something similar will happen with 5G

Did you notice an improvement in voice quality with VoLTE compared to say 2G?

I could not detect any. Same field radio quality.

Can you do a screen shot of LTE discovery for your airtel in Delhi ?
I will be doing 5G testing at airtel ofc location

And the other party also needs to be on VoLTE ?
Both parties should be on the same network like airtel and should have VoLTE / VoWiFi working. At least that's my experience.

Govt was going to enable the inter network VoLTE but dunno what happened.

Got the 5g update for my Moto edge 30 a couple of hours ago and hopefully Pune gets coverage sooner rather than later.

Post the LTE discovery screen grab for your location

It helps to understand the correlation between speed and bands used

Can you help with the dial code? I am getting 5G in Pune speed is approx 300mbps
*#0011# to enter service mode like in the first ten seconds of this video from 2015

You should see the band info on the top line. Post a screenshot.

I'm not sure which frequency is being used for 5G in your case. LTE shows a signal strength of -96 dBm and then there is a 5G strength of -86 dBm which is a stronger signal.

4G works on 2,300Mhz or B40. But there is no B40 in your screenshot. Apparently, It's B3 for both. so why two readings for signal strength then?

Because the 5G is NSA the phone has to hold two active connections which will take a toll on the battery as opposed to just using 4G with VoLTE.

I was expecting a higher frequency band for 200Mbs+ speed, but it seems B3 is capable of working that fast

Which Samsung phone is this?

Oh kool... I plan to visit relatives place in Magarpatta this Sunday.

Will check on my phone then.

Visited Koregaon park area today but could not get signal on Airtel or Jio.

I usually gets speed around 300mbps, screenshot doesn't do justice.
Your signal is under -100dBm, is it -86 or -96.

Indoors things will slow down

Also when I use airtel app to check 5G compatibility it says my device is not yet supported still I get 5G

Z flip 4
Did the code work on the flip 4?

Flip 4 is on the list according to the app. It's the Flip3 that needs an update.

I notice the S20FE now shows as enabled, earlier it said an update was required.
